The whole family is on the Gold Coast for the week for the Ultimate Championship of frisbee being held at the Sports Centre at Runaway Bay. In which the Australian teams have won Bronze in both the Open and Women divisions. But that’s not what we are talking about here. We are flying back to Sydney and the daughter is thinking about nice Japanese meal all week so she googled and found the Cha Cha on Broadbeach. It’s Saturday night and footy on everywhere, most of the restaurants around Broadbeach were full. Got to the Cha Cha and luckily they have a free table just vacant .
Sat down and ordered a few entrees and three mains, the mix Sashimi came first and we are impressed with the selections, presentations and quantity. But there was no sauce dish for the wasabi and soy sauce so we asked the lady for it. Surprised Surprised she came back with two sauce dishes with a good chuck of wasabi in each plus the soy sauce bottle . We have had plenty of Japanese meals before , this would be the most generous portion of wasabi and sauce. Impressed. Yeap, services is great.
The salmon , tuna and scallops are very fresh , great sashimi plate. See photo ! My miso soup came with a warning that it’s very hot, it was indeed and again , probably the hottest and best miso soup I had. It’s the little thing but much appreciated none the less.
BTW, when we placed the order, the hot salmon dish was sold out so we ordered the barramundi instead, only to be told during entrees that it was also sold out, a bit disappointed so my Mrs ordered a fried rice instead. Beans, filet miso steak and tofu all came and the food stopped, our mains of spicy pork and teriyaki chicken hadn’t come, went to the counter to ask, the lady checked then apologized and said she misplaced the order paper and then reconfirm what’s the missing items and promised the kitchen will rush it out.
5 min later, the lady returned with a plate of salmon avocado sushi and said it’s complimentary from her as an apology for missing the order. That was a nice touch and I must say the sushi was very very good. Just as well we have plenty of wasabi 👌
Finally the pork, chicken and our rice came and all very delicious.
Mr and Mrs and the daughter are all full and totally satisfied. Yeap, despite the little issue with the order which was rectified promptly, everything was excellent. Went to counter to pay. Check the bill, all correct. Was asked if I am paying cash or card. Cash it is and was told they give 5% discounts for paying cash, another nice touch. But wait, there’s more, the boss lady said instead of $130 something, she will give me another $10 discount because of the waiting. So I only need to pay $120. That was totally unexpected as we were given the free sushi already. The hospitality and customer services simply leave us speechless. Ask the lady boss where’s the tips jar and leave the discounted $10 for tips. Just thought the goodness shall be shared around.
On the way out, the owner Jack again apologised for the mistake and offered to give us a couple of special dishes when we return.
Bet you Jack will remember us and we shall return next time we are on the Gold Coast. I am telling it as it was . Just thought heart warming dining experiences like this deserved to be shared.
Highly recommended.

Read moreThis place used to be awesome. We used to come here all the time before we moved to the northern end of the gold coast, infact there is probably a good review on here from me or my partner. We were very much looking forward to a lovely dinner here and arrived a few minutes after it opened. Only one other table was taken and we decided to sit at a table outside, where it was breezy, due to the fact they have no air cond and it is quite stuffy inside. We were greeted by a staff member who then went off to continue sweeping the floor, we waited twenty minutes for someone to take our order and then decided perhaps it is no longer table service and went to the counter to order, which was fine...no problem. We opened our BYO drinks and waited for our meals. The restaurant began to fill up with magic millions patrons, they were all getting served at their tables and getting their food. Eventually someone came out and put a bottle of water and two glasses on our table for us, we had been there around 40 minutes at this point and just assumed our food must be coming if they are bringing water. Ten minutes later a staff member came out and asked if we had reservation, I said no, we had been there waiting since the restaurant opened and we were still waiting, they told us the table was reserved, despite no sign on tthe table and no one saying anything for the entire fifty minutes we had already been sitting and waiting. The lady said there was no order. She then called the woman who took our order over and asked if she knew if there was an order for us, the very same woman who took our order turned around and said "No, I didn't take an order" I was rather unimpressed by this point and told them "well if there is no order for us and after waiting almost an hour for an order we have already paid for and the table we are seated at is suddenly reserved, we will just have our money back please and we would go and eat somewhere else" a few minutes later another staff member came out with our order in takeaway containers saying she found our order. Almost sixty dollars for food shoved into take away containers and left waiting goodness knows how long...yay. So we n More or less got shoved out the door with cold food and deplorable service, open BYO which had hardly been touched (you know its illegal to walk down the street with opened alcohol) to make room for others. I am disgusted with the way we were treated and to top it all off after finding a place to sit and eat our $60 cold food in takeaway containers, we noticed it was not as nice as it used to be at all, which in some way is a relief because after the way were treated i never wanted to return, but i really loved their garlic butter steak and knowing it is actually not even nice anymore made it far easier to decide i will never, ever go there again. Oh and there was a short, fine white hair in the rice when we finally did get to eat it, which i think was a cat hair!!!!!!! I sincerly hope no one i have recommended this place to in the past goes there thinking it is good because I never recommend bad food. They will be sorely disappointed and i will look like an idiot if they go and taste the crap we got today and recieve the same appalling...
Read moreNot too busy for a Saturday night at 7pm. Got seated outside for two. Told us to QR code to order. So we asked if they could come back and take out order instead. Got edamame, prawn and avocado rolls, karaage chicken, steam rice and tofu. Service was average. No glasses with out drinks. No napkins with our meals. Deep fried prawns avocado rolls were raw so we asked her to take them back as it was not eatable.
Went to pay for the bill and she said sorry about the rolls but kept it on the bill even though they were raw and we didn't eat it. $14 is not much I understand but it was not right that they were raw. It wasn't our fault as the customer and I think it was wrong that she charges us for something we couldn't eat. I know now that we can't return as there customer service was below average and the food was a zero 😧🫣🤔

To your reply. You have lied about the pricing which now is very frustrating that you will say the steam rice was $1 the sushi rolls were $14 and yes the lady did charge us. So it's either she has taking our money and charged us but took it off the bill and have taken what was left. What ever it was it's very dogy after reading your reply to my review. I wrote back here as you didn't leave me an...
