We chose to dine at Unicorn Seafood Restaurant on 10th of November 2023 naively based on the Google reviews and superb star rating. What a mistake!
The drinks were cold and enjoyable but we didnât enjoy the cold plates and food.
We started with garlic bread for the table. When I think Greek food and garlic bread I immediately imagine heaps garlic and a layer of butter. The garlic bread had neither.
For mains we had Catch of the Day (kingfish) and garlic prawns. Both mains were served with potato wedges and we also had a side of broccolini. As mentioned previously the plates were cold so the food suffered as a result however my kingfish had been left on the grill for perhaps 10 minutes too long and was woody, dry, tough and turning to fish floss around the edges. The garlic king prawns were cooked nicely but were drowned in a creamy sauce that was once again missing the key ingredient GARLIC. The side of broccolini was overcooked, limp and lacking colour as a result.
I have been meaning to post my review for some time as our dining experience was so poor yet there were so many glowing reviews. Incidentally my partner had already posted her review which she can see but seems to have been blocked somehow and I feel this business is somehow intentionally manipulating their reviews.
I would not...
Read moreMy husband and i came here for a late lunch on a spontaneous visit because of work. First of all the warm welcoming by the staff we recieved regardless that i was dressed in hi vis work attire was wonderful, our waiter was micahael and he was absolutely fantastic, so friendly and chatty, he took a gorgeous picture for us to remember our wonderful visit and made us feel every bit welcome. We were seated straight away with water, menus and linen serviettes put down instantly. We ordered drinks first which came very quickly and the liquer affagato i had was exceptional, so much so i returned a few hours later for another with Michael remembering us, seating us and ordering my drink without me even having to do anything, it was incredible. For our food we ordered the avacado seafood and the live mudcrab which came with a greek salad, rice and a gorgeous tamato, onion salsa. All the seafood was incredibly fresh, full of flavour and the crab was steamed to absolute perfection, the dolmates is the best i have had in a restaraunt. I also tried there oyster shot which with the freshness of the oyster was absolutely delicious. The service is very prompt and the waiters are just hands down amazing. I can not recommend this restaraunt more, we will be returning very soon! Thank you so much for the great...
Read moreWas walking in Broadbeach on my final evening with no intention of eating dinner but we came across this little authentic gem of a Greek restaurant sitting tucked away on the corner with its traditional music and blue/white colored decor.
A quick glance at the menu and we decided to try it.
The whole experience was perfect, the service was impeccible, fast, friendly and very proactive, napkins were placed on our laps, water brought out immediately, finger bowls brought out when eating our seafood, we never tip the waiters but on this occassion, all 3 that came out to serve us, were amazing and we felt obliged to.
We had the Lobster mornay, a very generous sized lobster cooked to perfection, the cream was perfect and the lobster fresh and meaty, the seafood chowder was amazing, one of the best chowders Ive ever had, definately in my top 3, creamy, tasty and not overdone with seafood.
The platter of oysters, the variety was spot on, but of course, the best was the "spanakopita" truly authetic with its flaky filopastry and perfect amount of spinach/cheese, it was light, amazingly tasty and it just melted in your mouth.
My only regret is not been able to try out more of the menu but will definately be...
