Jade Tree Chinese Seafood 玉樹海鮮餐廳 — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Went here for family dinner. Was expecting quite a lot given how many people there were seated and the high ratings from others on Google. I don’t understand how that is warranted at all, as I was rather shocked at how bad it was. We ordered the full spread, no expense spared. The food was surprisingly quick, which may say something rather lacklustre about the quality out back. It was then almost immediate that everyone else at the table was all of a sudden politely ‘full’. I went around sampling each dish, hoping for the ‘good one’ to come around but it never did. The pork were in these huge chunks and were tough. The honey chicken was dry. The noodles were flavourless and hadn’t been properly cooked, and if they ‘had’, was a sorry excuse for it. The fish, my gosh, the fish is the new joke around the house it was so bad. The fish was like literal rubber and tasteless, we decided to get it takeaway for the dogs. The sizzling beef was the only bearable thing and even then, my hungry self couldn’t get through it all. Needless to say, everyone left mumbling to each other our own grievances at the meal with well over $100 less in our pockets. A great, family owned Chinese Restaurant! Not much to look at, and right in the guts of the tourist area, so we were pleasantly surprised at how good this was! Very authentic, homestyle Chinese food; not the usual over-filling average dishes. We had the Szechuan Chicken, which was AMAZING! Also had the Satay Chicken, plus the Green Beans with mince pork and XO sauce. All dishes were perfect and tasted amazing! Very hard to find great Chinese food these days, and we rarely clean up the plates, but this is it! Every item we were brought was fresh and full of flavour. Honestly the best Chinese food I've had to date. More than that though, the service was incredibly friendly and the Chef himself made a point to approach is and ask how everything was, because he truely cares about his food and the satisfaction of his customers.
