We had a booking for 7pm for 3 people. We were seated at 7pm, which was great. That's about where the issues began.
We watched people who arrived after us be seated, orders taken, and served entrees while we waited to have our order taken. In total it took 25 minutes and 2 separate enquiries about when our order would be taken before someone came over to serve us. New place, busy Friday night - I understand there will be some growing pains, but the least you could do is acknowledge the wait and apologize which did not happen.
We ordered 2x snow crab bags, 1x mini prawn bag, baguettes, chorizo, kajun eggs, crawfish and 2x drinks each. The crawfish, chorizo, and 1 round of drinks never made it to the table - which was disappointing because we were really excited to try the crawfish. There was no explanation as to why these didn't make it out.
The blue swimmer crabs were vastly over-cooked, to the point of even the shell being soft enough to swallow without chewing (which is what we ended up doing). In fairness, the snow crab was cooked beautifully! It just came at the cost of the rest of the bag. And, conversely, the potatoes were so undercooked they were crunchy like apples.
The atmosphere itself was loud and overall chaotic. Plenty of servers and other patrons knocking against my chair throughout the experience due to the lack of space.
There wasn't so much as an acknowledgment of the wait time, the lack of service or any kind of explanation or apology for the items missed in our order - despite the fact they still tried to charge me for it at the end. I requested an itemized bill and walked through it and corrected all the mistakes - bringing the total for the night to $262.07 for 3 people and 1 drink each. It was also not acknowledged when pointed out to staff how much was on the bill that shouldn't be.
Overall a thoroughly disappointing experience, and given how little acknowledgement there was for the misgivings, I see no reason to return nor will I be recommending the place to my...
Read moreWalked into Kicking Inn Broadbeach fully aware I was about to eat with gloves on, bib up, and dignity out the window, and honestly, I was ready.
The vibe? Casual chaos meets seafood party, with the staff flinging out buckets of saucy prawns, crab, and bugs like it’s a sport. It’s loud, it’s messy, and if you’re on a first date, maybe wear black and embrace your inner gremlin.
We went for the mild Kicking Mix because I thought I was brave, but let’s just say it still had enough kick to make me sniffle mid-bite. The sauce is addictive—garlicky, buttery, spicy—like if your mum’s best seafood boil had a glow-up after a trip to Louisiana.
The serving sizes are solid; you will be rolling out of there, half crab shell, half human. Sucking the heads of the prawns is a must (don’t argue with me, just do it). The corn and potatoes in the boil were delicious little sauce sponges, soaking up every bit of flavour.
Staff were friendly and efficient, checking if we were still alive after seeing the mess we made on the table. Drinks were decently priced, and the cocktails, while not groundbreaking, were refreshing enough to cool the spice-induced sweats.
Would I go back? Absolutely. But only with people I can comfortably wear a bib around, because you will get sauce in your hair and maybe a prawn flying across the table if you’re...
Read moreWe’ve been seeing this restaurant all over TikTok and finally decided to give it a try! The closest branch to us was the one in Broadbeach. We were warmly greeted and assisted by our fellow kababayan Chris and another lovely lady whose name I, unfortunately, forgot. The whole experience felt like having dinner at home cozy, welcoming, and fun. We were even given gloves and bibs to protect our hands and clothes from the deliciously messy sauces!
Of course, I couldn’t help myself but get completely smothered in the delicious sauce! I’ve been craving a good seafood boil for a while 😂 We ordered the custom bag with fresh prawns, peeled prawns, mussels, hard bay bugs, mud crab, baby octopus, and corn, with their recommended She-Bang sauce in mild spice, plus a side of rice (of course!). Everything was fresh, good size, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
Their customer service is top-notch, super friendly and attentive. They even surprised us with a little complimentary starter and dessert. Nice ambient and spotlessly clean, It really made the whole dining experience even more satisfying. My photos cant do justice to it. You should visit and try...
