POOR FOOD HYGIENE/HANDLING; Unfortunately the experience here was extremely poor to say the least. Follow up on a food poisoning experience was not done at all by the Management. All 3 of the guests that attended lunch experienced stomach cramps and spent the night on the WC with diarrhoea ( note: no other food was eaten after lunch). I called and left a message and my contact details to advise the restaurant telling them I had submitted my feedback online via their website for them to review and respond - online I included a copy of the receipt outlining the items eating, time of dining, table number, date etc... what astounds me is that after reopening on Tuesday 23 April it is now Saturday and I have yet to hear a word - unacceptable in my view ! Restaurants who choose to ignore this serious feedback and do not take food hygiene/handling practices seriously need to be "called out"
Part 2: I have read the response from Madame Fu and sadly I am disappointed with such an unprofessional reply. Had I not written this Google review I doubt your "safety investigation" will have occurred (if one indeed happened at all ???). Despite leaving a contact number over 2 weeks ago on their answer machine no attempt was made to contact us to ascertain any details about the incident - I would have thought making contact would be one of the FIRST STEPS in any thorough "safety investigation" process !!! Yes I deliberately omitted that 1 of the 3 participants had a McDonalds cheeseburger afterwards based on the fact that McDonalds have one off the best food hygiene practices in the world. Does Madame Fu believe this single cheeseburger eaten by one of them was responsible for all 3 guests experiencing stomach cramps and diarrhoea - sadly I see nothing but DEFLECTION and perhaps looking to BLAME McDONALDS - it sounds as though you're more worried about the review than the real welfare of your guests.
As a small business I wish you no harm however you should consider giving a greater priority in responding directly when food poisoning is reported to you, rather than only responding when its posted on...
Read moreMade an online booking, arrived and was seated promptly by the server, offered menus, water, as one would expect from a restaurant. The female server who who took care of us was friendly, polite and professional.
All drinks arrived after ordering and four orders were incorrect as per the order. 2 were corrected and the other two we decided to keep. (This was a genuine mistake by our server, which I mentioned at the end directly to her).
The food was very good quality and flavoursome.
We then asked for additional drinks during the food service by another female server (assumed Australian), we politely asked for 1800 coconut tequila (as we ordered intially but did not receive), The server replied in an unfriendly and brash manner, âandâŚâ? We responded, âwith soda pleaseâ. The four of us were astonished at the manner in which we were addressed, and verbally confirmed with each other that we all had the same feeling of the unfriendly nature and poor attitude. We continued our meal as normal and were served by our main server (who greeted us initially) which was once again friendly and professional. Following on from this the Australian female server as mentioned above return to clear our empty plates, and said, âyou donât want anything elseâ? Once again, we were taken back by the rude tone and manner in which wewere addressed. In addition, the above-mentioned female server did not smile once, appeared as if she did not want to be there. We discussed together regarding this level of communication and finesse in service delivery is not acceptable in customer service, when you are paying customer. This negatively impacted the overall experience at Madam Fu. Having worked in customer service and the airline industry for many years, this is not the level of required service one would expect. Friendliness, finesse, politeness and professionalism are basics and a must. We have dined at Madam Fu, Via Roma a few times; we certainly will not be in a...
Read moreDined with a party of 4 for dinner. Great all round experience. A surprise find and a great experience.
Service was thoughtful, diligent and friendly - excellent throughout. Waiters knew the menu (the taste and cooking techniques of the food) and were able to make relevant suggestions, all of which were accurate.
Food was nothing short of excellent. Every dish (and we were a bit gluttonous with our two adult sons) was so good that you wanted to savour the taste longer, but got excited about the next one to arrive so HAD to tuck right in. I think we had about 10 dishes (all served as share plates) and EVERY single one was a winner. Fabulous innovative menu with some great unexpected taste combinations. GF and vegetarian options. Hard to single out a best dish - but Pork belly and eggplant dishes both left me gagging for more.
Limited, but sensibly matched, wine selection and range of beers etc. Cocktails are really good, donât shy away from the unusual taste combos (eg Tom Yum Yum cocktail really tasted like a Tom yam soup - only icy and alcoholic).
Setting is unexpected in an upmarket shopping âmallâ but once seated itâs not noticeable. Nice View to canal during day, but the actual canal-side seating is a different establishment, so thereâs no alfresco seating.
I would (and will) come back to Madam Fuâs. Not âcheapâ, but very very reasonable for quality and quantity. With wine and cocktails we gorged and come away sub 400, and really - a pub is going to be 60 each! A hidden gem (on par with other greats like Mamasanâs) that I highly commend.
Note, above sounds (and I guess is) positively gushing, but I have no association with this establishment other than to add it to my list of favourite...
