South Coast Coffee Co. — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Started good, no issues. Got served with coffees first, which probably is one of the best coffees I’ve ever had (5 stars for coffees definitely). Then my partner and I ordered some breakfast meals as well. He ordered a BLT, which we had no problems with. Issues with service started from here - I ordered Bacon and Eggs (sunny side up), got served with a “flipped” so like dry. Obviously, asked staff to change it to what I originally wanted - then she started having an attitude but still decided to take the meal back and said “i’ll change it”. Waited for 10 more minutes then got served with a cold bacon, cold sourdough bread. She didn’t even apologise for the whole thing. I went back to ask for it to get re-heated, and a different lady had to attend my concerns as the one who was having an attitude was just passing by me and wasn’t even looking. It’s a pity that this one lady’s service ruined the whole experience for me...

Thought I’d try this place for breakfast. Reviews look good regarding coffee. I was asked to present my Covid certificate which I was happy to do to dine in. I noticed as I dined, other patrons who were sitting in, weren’t asked for their Covid certificates. Admittedly there was different staff at the counter.

I wanted scrambled eggs on toast, however was told they only served fried eggs on toast. I ordered the eggs with bacon and relish on sourdough and a pot of tea. My teaspoon was dirty, as was my tea cup. I cleaned the cup myself and asked for a new spoon. When my breakfast arrived, the knife was soiled and hadn’t been cleaned properly. I ended up cleaning the cutlery myself and then sat down to eat a very ordinary breakfast. Especially with the Covid Pandemic risk, I would expect better hygeine practices. I have been going to South Coast coffee for a few years as they have a nice roast and make good coffee. Beware when you pay by credit card, they charge 1.2% for using your CC. I can still live with that but when you arrive on a Sunday at 3:15 you are told "we only serve in Take Away cups because we close at 4pm". Any coffee lover knows that coffee tastes different than when served in a cup. The Flat White has one shot at $4.00 but if you want a medium size Flat White you are charged $4.50 however you only get one shot too. Most other good cafes for a medium cup will pour 1.5 shot. So is the extra 0.50c for the extra milk.... Another rule they have which is ridiculous. If you accumulated two free coffees, you can only claim one at a time.
