Inside the fresh food mall on isle of Capri you will find Bao Burger. To be fair I have been on a mission to find the best Bao buns on the Gold Coast and these Bao’s were a disappointment. I ordered 4 Bao’s: The Fried eggplant, grilled halloumi, Fried Mushroom and the Roast Duck. All these Bao’s came with the same dried out slaw and different sauces. There’s so many tasty veggies 1 can use to get a better end result while still maintaining a healthy budget. The Asian culture have been doing it for centuries, they created these wonderful fluffy pillows of deliciousness why would you want to reunion them. All of my Bao’s had to much sauce, the main ingredient in each Bao lacked flavour and the poor duck which is an expensive item was so dry I was disappointed that this delicate flesh wasn’t cooked with care. Bao burger has a great concept going on but theirs a lot of competition on the coast, I would high recommend checking out your competition to see and taste how this brand and product can be improved. Isle of Capri is full of above average income earners and there’s a lot of foot traffic where you are situated so give them the wow factor that is clearly missing. The price is right and I wish you all a brighter future ahead. With little changes come...
Read moreWe had a quick bite for lunch. The menu choice is remarkably full with enough diversity to fulfill most desires. It is interesting how a bao bun can have one element changed that changes the whole thing. I can see how this idea works well without creating unnecessary kerfuffle in the kitchen preparing it. The server had about as much apparent interest in life as a mannequin but to his credit, he was doing the lot; Taking orders, preparing food and getting it out so personality is not the requirement but organisation is. And the bao buns did not take long to come and were both very neatly presented in a small basket. We had between us a prawn bao, an eggplant bao, a mushroom bao and an halloumi bao. Flavour, taste, freshness...it was all there. Well done. We sat at the tables just adjacent to the serving counter in a large area that seemed to be the seating for the other outlets as well. No atmosphere really but then again. this is a pace to enjoy some food not to make a fine dining experience. The only criticism was once the bao bun was gone and the napkin/ serviette was removed from the serving basket, the basket was not properly washed but this was not an issue as the serviette covered it all. Overall, hats off...

I recently had lunch at Bao Burgers on Via Roma during our visit to the Gold Coast, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The burgers and Bao buns were absolutely outstanding, flavorful, perfectly cooked!.
As the parent of a child with Celiac disease, I always request extra care when it comes to gluten-free options, particularly fries. I was deeply impressed by the owner’s attention to detail in ensuring our meal was completely safe. The owner shared that her daughter is also celiac, so he truly understands the importance of food safety and preventing cross-contamination. He went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and well taken care of.
The fries are gluten-free, and the restaurant uses a dedicated fryer exclusively for gluten-free items, which gave us total peace of mind during our visit.
I highly recommend Bao Burgers to anyone looking for a delicious, worry-free meal, especially those who need reliable gluten-free options. We will definitely...
