Updating my review and changing from 5 down to 2 stars based on the service on 2/11/2024: Your quality of service is a big-big let down. When I ordered my meal and spoken shortly to the gentleman with long blonde hair and cap (just to let him know I changed the table to bring my food to a different one), he looked so annoyed and uninterested as if saying he couldn't care less. When I got my order another young gentleman brought it with such a look as every customer is an inconvenience. The food does taste amazing, big compliments to your chefs and bakers, - love their freshly baked sourdough bread, baguette with ham and garlic sauce or turkey and garlic cheese sandwich. Baguettes are so crispy and such a beautiful start of the day! Sausage roll is delicious, beautiful pastry and lovely meaty stuffing, you can have a choice of tomato sauce with it, tomato relish or barbecue sauce. Coffee is fantastic too and made to perfection. Yummy chocolates and fluffy and delicate vanilla slice! Don't recommend dining in, super noisy and cramped, takeaway is the best option.

What’s worse than a Grumpy Man with a cold? Nothing is worse - so stay away unless you are giving sympathy, hugs and want to tell me I’m wonderful. Ok, so that sets the stage for today’s review. I’ve ventured out to the Isle of Capri on the Gold Coast - lifestyles of the rich and sunburnt. I visited Bisou Bakery for a quick bite to eat. Coffee and Ham & Cheese Toast - well the result was good for a premade sandwich popped into the toaster. Medium/small in size cut in two pieces. Coffee was a Cappuccino - medium two shots, lots of froth and tasted good to about 2/3 through. (Maybe my Grumpy taste buds returned - so I left 1/3 for landfill.) Highlight was watching the fish below the deck - desperate for left overs. Not special but nice enough for the price.

Went here for breakfast and ordered the truffle scrambled eggs. Unfortunately, when it arrived it was drowned in oil (which barely tasted like truffle). The sourdough also had enough butter and oil that it was soggy. Quite a mess for $20. The coffee was good at least, but we had to ask two staff members where it was- the second time one of us actually had to get up and go to the counter. I approached the owner, Martina, after our meal to provide my feedback. I wanted to be friendly about it, mentioning first that the coffee was good. Her response was incredibly insincere and it seemed like she couldn’t care less. Won’t be going back.

I nor my wife won't be going here again, despite living in the area.

  1. Girl at cash register was completely disinterested, unfriendly and needs training.

  2. First table to sit down had plates on it and was unclean. So we went to another table which had no plates on it and was also unclean. There are 10 tables in the cafe with 6 staff serving/waiting and 2 in the bakery at the back, surely 6 staff can accommodate 10 tables?

  3. I was told by the disinterested cashier that for my eggs on a croissant breakfast there were no croissants left as "someone had just bought eight", yet there are four other shops around them that sold croissants that they could have been purchased from. But the worst part was the elderly couple sitting next to us who turned up after we'd ordered, got the exact item we ordered with a croissant on it. Go figure.

  4. There was a mix-up with the drink order - not sure whether it was me or the disinterested cashier - but the way this was handled could have been much better. I paid for another Mocha $7.50 but would have appreciated a complimentary drink, being courteous when delivering it and maybe apologizing for the mix-up.

I hate to complain about these things as it's a "first world problem", but I won't...

we used to be regular customers but after today’s experience, we won’t be returning. from the food to the service, we were shocked by the unprofessionalism.

a young server delivered our food with unnecessary attitude, making comments about how requesting pepper was weird and practically tossing the plates onto the table. while we were still speaking to her, she walked away and had an absolutely terrible table manner. as someone who works in a luxury hospitality setting myself, i was disgusted by her manner. the disappointment kept coming. the food order was wrong and they “fixed” it haphazardly with a half-hearted apology. while eating, we had a view into the kitchen where we watched the chef constantly picking at his teeth without washing his hands afterward, and the waiting staff at one point huddled together and openly began laughing at us.

i was appalled, angry and disappointed at this service — or lack thereof — and absolutely will never go back here. there are plenty of other wonderful outlets at isle of capri with staff who actually treat their customers with respect, and i’m excited to give them my...
