What an incredible culinary experience.
My wife and I decided to try Moksha this evening after a referral from a friend and I can not rate Sandeep, the team, and the restaurant highly enough.
We started with the ‘Palak Patta Chaat’ and I can honestly say I have never had anything quite like it. The gram flour baby spinach was cooked to absolute ‘mouth feel’ perfection and the blend of Chutney, spice and yogurt was masterful. 10/10 would recommend to absolutely anyone. We had glanced past the ‘Chaat’ section of the menu until a recommendation from the owner, and we are so glad that we tried it.
Next, the Naan. Now as an Australian bloke who loves his Asian food I consider myself quite picky with regards to Naan especially, we ordered the Garlic Naan and it did NOT disappoint. Perhaps the best I’ve ever had in this country. The perfect blend of a light airy texture but not to dense, crispy and slightly (perfectly) charred exterior, the way Naan should be 10/10 can’t wait to eat again, my only issue is that we don’t order more.
For mains my wife ordered the Mango chicken. A perfect balance of tropical mango flavoures and brilliantly selected spices. 10/10. my 1 1/2 year old daughter shared this with my wife and she left her plate almost clean, and what she could not pick up with her spoon, she soaked up with her Naan bread. Baby approved!
Next was the ‘Bombay Potatoes’. We only ordered these after seeing a visually striking photo of the dish on the website and the taste was as delicious as the image suggested. Flawless combination of cumin, coriander, and spices. 10/10.
I ordered the ‘Oh my Goat’ curry and asked for hot spice and what an absolute treat for my taste buds. You know how some curries add either to much chilli spice, or to much spice spice, in an effort to get that heat? Well this was not one of those curries! INCREDIBLE flavour, and a perfect balance of spice and chilli which left me wanting more and more, I’m glad it was such a generous portion size so I have enough for smoko tomorrow. 10/10
Lastly, for dessert, we tried the ‘Gulab Jamun’. Now personally, “cottage cheese dumpling” didn’t get my heart racing and my mouth salivating, but after owner Sandeeps recommendation we couldn’t not try it, after all, he hadn’t steered us wrong all evening. And let me tell you something, LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING! This was perhaps the stand out dish of the evening. Incredible. I can’t really describe the flavour, as I have never had anything like it, but the dumpling was warm, soft, dense, with hints of coconut (which was probably another spice I am not educated on describing) and paired with a delicious creamy vanilla ice cream, a match made in heaven, went together like music and lyrics.
All this accompanied by a subtle, traditional, masterful decor, quality utensils and inviting, warm staff left my wife and I speechless. Baring the short essay I have just written.
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Moksha restaurant to anyone who is in the market for delicious, authentic Indian.
Thank you...
Read moreThis really was a taste of India and for those that enjoy traditional flavours and richness you will love this experience! If you've travelled India and know authentic cuisine, you will appreciate this experience! Sundeep, his wife and team were fantastic, very warm and welcoming and the service was very attentive and checking in on our needs (especially on the heat level!) which was great. We tried a diverse range of the meals from the entrees of crispy fried chicken lightly spiced with beautiful mix of cumin and indian flavours (their secret herbs and spices 😉) , to the chicken, cheese and sultana fingers and spinach and bean. For mains we went in mainly for a mix of vegetarian dishes of Dal Makhani which was deliciously creamy and seasoned, Palak paneer with chunky pieces of cheese, medium spiced (quite warm) lovingly seasoned in a fresh vibrant spinach sauce. You know it's fresh! We match that with the Saag Aloo (surprisingly my favourite!) and also a Paneer Makhani in a deliciously creamy tomato Makhani sauce. All complimented with the lemon rice which is highly recommend and your standard basmati, not to mentioned their naan breads. Spinach and cheese is my favourite! Who can go past a Butter chicken? One for the kids and a rich creamy sauce which both kids and adults enjoyed! Make sure you book in - we got there early and the place filled up! Compliments to the chef - I'll most definitely be back and would highly recommend you...
