Broadwater Keys Holiday Apartments — Hotel in Gold Coast City

The best thing about this experience was, I ended up getting the key deposit back. I need to start by saying something positive!! I wish I could say more good things but sadly I can't as I'm 100% truth. Confirming the other 1 star reviews are NOT embellished. The worst thing? The cost as it started was affordable & reasonable then it became expensive & erratic- for example 1 festive season as "long term"(stayed longer than short term/overnight)so paid a set rate/the same no Increase. Then the year after during Christmas it was changed & went up. Kept increasing from then & despite it was being refurbished on the outside shame the same couldn't be said from the inside. Pest control took forever for them to do & I suffered severely with insect bites for an unexceptable amount of time & it 100% wasn't due to known drug side effects as I haven't don't & won't do narcotics. Don't want to bring a bad reputation to this business 😂 The laundry there is small but the washing machine & dryer don't work properly although it takes your money & you only can fit a tiny load in both. I don't swim but glad for that as the pool looked dirty all the time. The BBQ near the pool worked & most of the time it was kept clean? Reception rarely attended the office & even when rent was deducted from my bank account it wasn't taken at the correct time. Kept room clean but mould growing in the shower & cupboard but nothing seemed to be done about it-same goes when I was kept awake by the noise from the fire alarm 'beeping' until they came to fix it the next day. Staff mistook me for someone else & I got accused of being loud when I wasn't the 1 yelling at all hours for no good reason keeping everyone awake no doubt not just me? They wanted to charge "$10 security deposit" for the electronic frypan when the original when moved in there worked then it broke. Early 1 morning awoke scared by a loud bang on the door & managed to answer it was the police. They needed to check everyone was safe as they were investigating a report a gunshot had been heard -turns out it was mistaken for another room as they echo & someone had probably just had an accident & dropped something? LPF 8181||1/5||I booked this place through hotels.com & the moment we arrived I knew it was a very dirty little place, but when we actually opened the door to our room, I realised just how bad it really was. The putrid smell of god knows what hit us. The walls were filthy, the floor had sand all over it, it looked like it had never been cleaned ever since the day it was built, really it was just REVOLTING!! We had our children with us & I really didn’t feel comfortable letting them sleep on the beds, since the linen stunk & had what looked like coffee stains all over them. I kept thinking we would probably catch crabs or some other dirty diseases if we stay here, so we made the choice to leave after 10 minutes. I rang Hotels.com to request a refund immediately & booked in somewhere else. Hotels.com could not get through to the owners/manager to confirm the cancellation as no one was answering the calls at Broadwater Keys, so they kept trying & called me the next day to tell me they received a response from them about my cancellation. They read out an email that they had received from Broadwater Keys to say that the room we booked with them was was one of their newly renovated rooms & that we had basically made a mess 😲 We made the mistake on taking my 2 year old sons wet swimsuit off when we arrived & had accidentally left it in the bathroom & they had taken pictures of that & sent it to Hotels.com & said WE had made a mess a pfft 😡 Hotels.com asked if we had taken pics,(which we didn’t think to do at the time) so we ended up being charged with the cleaning cost of that disgusting hole. WARNING!!! This place is a scam run by incredibly unprofessional people. My partner and I just wanted a simple place to stay for one night last Saturday.

Issue 1. Deposit of $200 was taken from my partner's card and it still hasn't been received today the following Saturday. He gave them a bad review saying this so they called and said they would give the money back to him WHEN he takes the bad review down. He rightly told them that once he receives the money he would take the bad review down.

Issue 2. When we arrived everything seemed to be ok, a simple room which is what we wanted. However, when I went to the bathroom, I stepped into a layer of water on the ground. Looked up to see patches on the ceiling where water was dripping down. Enough to be flooding the bathroom floor. These things can happen so I called the contact number in the information book and the man who answered sounded half asleep. Once I explained the situation he started making the most unprofessional sighs of annoyance and asked if we could talk about this tomorrow. I told him that wasn't an option and asked if there was someone who could come have a look and get us into a different room. He sighed more during all of this and said he would get back to me. I waited an hour for his call back and then realised what kind of company this is, that they weren't going to do anything and left. So the simple room was $240 + $200 unrefunded deposit.
