My recent dining experience at “The Lucky Squire” left me utterly delighted. Situated in a bustling corner of the city, this restaurant is a gem waiting to be discovered.
The Lucky Squire boasts an inviting ambiance that strikes the perfect balance between casual and upscale. The industrial-chic decor and warm lighting create a welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for gatherings with friends or a cozy date night.
Service at The Lucky Squire was top-notch. The staff was not only attentive but also knowledgeable about the extensive menu. Their friendly demeanor added to the overall enjoyment of the evening.
Now, let’s dive into the food. Every dish we sampled was a culinary masterpiece. The crispy beer-battered fish and chips were a true highlight, with flaky fish encased in a perfectly crunchy coating. The Lucky Squire’s take on classic comfort food was spot on. The smoked barbecue ribs were a revelation, tender and packed with smoky goodness.
The drink menu was equally impressive, featuring a wide range of craft beers and inventive cocktails. We couldn’t resist trying their signature “Squire’s Sip,” a refreshing blend of flavors that paired wonderfully with our meal.
Despite its quality, The Lucky Squire manages to maintain reasonable prices, making it an excellent choice for those seeking both flavor and value.
One unique feature is their outdoor patio, where patrons can savor their meal while enjoying the vibrant energy of the city streets.
Whether you’re looking for a relaxed evening out with friends or a satisfying meal that hits all the right notes, The Lucky Squire delivers. I highly recommend trying their beer-battered fish and chips and exploring their craft beer offerings for a flavorful adventure.
In conclusion, The Lucky Squire is a culinary treasure in the heart of the city. With its delicious food, exceptional service, and inviting atmosphere, it’s a dining destination that deserves a 5-star rating.

Read moreThis was extremely disappointing almost to the point of being a bit shocking. Back when I used to do carbs, I really enjoyed James Squire in Sydney. Thought the food was great and their beers were lovely. Beers might still be lovely – I wouldn’t know – but I popped in here starving after a flight and ordered a steak. I got the 300g rump, medium rare. I wanted it without any sides or sauces (Carnivore). I have had varying degrees of success ordering this way at places that have steak. All the way from beautiful surprisingly good scotch fillet at an RSL…. To the new bottom, which was what I got at this James Squire. Two pieces of steak joined by a vein of gristle. Neither one bigger than the palm of a seven-year-old’s hand. One was mostly medium with a thick spot that was medium rare. The other was much thinner and therefore came out at medium well. I did not have a food scale, but it did not look like it could be more than 200g. It was $42 for this extremely sad and even cynical looking piece of meat. I don’t know how the kitchen could’ve sent this out, especially to someone who wasn’t having any sides to hide the meat’s low quality. It literally looked like the person in the kitchen was annoyed that someone didn’t want the sides. I thought about complaining to the server but the fact that he had put that in front of me with a straight face made me doubt whether he really was as nice as he had seemed and I didn’t want to end up with something worse if I complained (That’s how much it seemed like the person in the kitchen had an anger problem). Went straight to Woollies after and bought a scotch fillet for $19 to cook at my serviced department and decided to live and learn about James Squire. (and help...
Read moreI've been here 4 times in past 12 months and have never had a bad experience. The first two times were with a group of friends and we dined in the restaurant (on a Friday night). The first time we went the waitress explained the set menu option and was so helpful in informing us of portion sizes when we decided to choose our own selections from the menu which we shared between the group. The food was so good that the same group of us went again a couple of months later and ordered the exact same options the second time. The third visit was late on a Friday night during the Blues on Broadbeach Festival so it was much busier with the live music from the festival still on when we arrived. We had about 10 of us who came straight from our wedding to continue the celebration! While it was quite busy and we waited a while to get in (due to venue capacity), the wait for drinks at the bar wasn't excessive considering how busy the venue was. The most recent visit was two weeks ago with a group of workmates (most of whom hadn't been before). We came on a Tuesday night which meant it was also Trivia night. We had a range of items from the food menu (pizza, burgers, parmis, fish and lamb shanks) with not one person having a bad meal. We also won free drinks from Trivia so the beer drinkers made the most of it, trying as many of the different beers from the range as they could and there were also a few new cocktails to try out. The manager told us there was a new menu coming later that week so we're looking forward to another great night with at the Lucky Squire in the not too...
