It was our 1st visit to this cafe as recommended by Urban List online. We look forward to have a lovely breakfast here.
We live in NSW and was in the Gold Coast for a day trip as it’s only about 1.5hrs drive.
We arrived at the cafe around 10.50am on Easter Sunday and managed to get a table quickly. A lady who greeted us showed us the table where we can sit, provided us the breakfast menu and took our drinks order.
Our drinks were served pretty quickly. We looked at the menu and were very excited to see the list of options available.
We waited patiently for someone to come and take our orders as we know the cafe was busy, but no one attended to us. We finally had to get the waiting staff’s attention to place our orders. Our orders were taken, but the lady later came back and shared with us that they’re not serving the breakfast menu anymore. She apologised, gave us the lunch menu and showed us the limited the all day breakfast menu.
We were very disappointed as we were not advised that the breakfast menu will end at 11am when we were seated. The least they can do is to inform us when they gave us the menu or when they served us the drinks.
We decided not to eat at the cafe and walked to to the counter to pay for our drinks. We shared our feedback about being disappointed on the experience. The lady apologised and showed us the bill.
Honestly, the cafe needs to train the staff better regardless how busy their cafe can be. Mostly, they need to train the team on how to be sincere when apologising. We didn’t really see this from both ladies, unfortunately.
Thankfully, our disappointment were lifted when we went to another cafe nearby, Elk Expresso, also recommended by Urban List. The service was AMAZING from beginning till the end. Despite being so busy (busier than No Name Lane), the team’s energy was contagious! Perhaps, the management of No Name Lane can visit this cafe and bring that energy to their...
Read more7 of us arrived for brunch at 1045. Service coming to our table was prompt. When 6 ordered we were told 'they were swamped' so it would take 45 mins for our meals to come. I was the last one to order but my meal of mushrooms and poached egg arrived as promised 45 mins later, but after waiting another 15 mins for the other meals to arrive, nothing came. I did not want to start my meal before the others could eat. When we enquired to when the others were to be served we were told 'they were swamped' again but the waitress would enquire. Another waitress came and told us 'the chef was making enquiries' but she could not tell us when they would arrive. If I wanted my meal to be replaced, it would still not come out with the rest but I Would go to the bottom of the of the list and would have to wait another 20 mins as 'there were only 2 chefs' and AGAIN I was told they were swamped. I had originally ordered fritters but then was told they had run out. My daughter ordered juice but was then told they had run out of juice and as it comes in processed and they do not provide fresh juice, she was not able to have that either. While we were waiting, the table behind us sent back 3 meals. We ended up leaving and cancelling before our meals came as no one could tell us when that would be. At least with fewer meals to cook, the chefs would not have been so 'swamped'. This cafe should stay No Name as it is not a...
Read moreI've been going to No Name since 2017, but this year the service has really let me down. It's not like me to write a bad review, especially with my background in hospitality, but the experiences I've had recently have been well below par. The manager, Sophie, stood out in particular. When I politely asked for chocolate on the side of my pancakes, she gave me a dismissive response, saying they didn't have it despite me knowing they did. Instead of saying she'd check with the kitchen, she just brushed us off in such a bad way, she looked at us and treated us like we were absolute idiots. Her attitude was passive-aggressive and continued throughout the whole service. At one point, I just didn't want her serving us anymore. This kind of treatment is not acceptable, especially in a café where basic standards of service and respect should be upheld. When you go to a place like this, you expect at least a bit of friendliness and professionalism. At one point, my friend and I looked at each other and said, "Why should a staff member ruin our morning with such bad vibes?" Dealing with Sophie's attitude left us feeling frustrated and disappointed. It's really disappointing to experience such unprofessional behavior in a place where we expected a pleasant atmosphere. This kind of service just isn't on, especially when you're just trying to enjoy a nice...
