We booked a room for just one night via Airbnb and we wish we would have checked Trip Advisor and Google reviews prior to doing so. We have never seen a hotel/condo location with a majority of 1-star reviews. All we can say, is that we absolutely agree.||We checked in with a very nice lady at the front desk and were assigned a room on the 7th floor. Upon walking into the room, we were shocked. First thing we noticed was the clearly defined iron burn on the floor next to the bed. Then saw a cigarette burn (a hole) on the couch as well as a hole in the curtains. The ironing board was also burned. The fridge had several dents in the door and the air conditioner had some damage on it. The bathroom was not much better with the TP holder almost falling off and the towel bar had completely fallen off the wall. There was no blanket on the bed, but we found one in the closet. It stunk so bad. Kitchen had barely any utensils to work with and had been questionably cleaned. The general feeling of the room was that no one seemed to care about how clean or maintained it was. Where is housekeeping and the maintenance team? Where is management????||Took several pictures of the above and shared with the front desk lady who apologized profusely, but was told there were no other rooms to switch to. We went out for the rest of the day and came back just before 6pm to ask where the breakfast was going to be served as this was listed as an amenity on the Airbnb listing. We were told that breakfast had not been offered since March 2020 when COVID started. We let the front desk lady know that it was on the listing and showed it to her and she shrugged and said she would let the management know. We felt very deceived by this, but it was already late so we just decided to get through the night and leave first thing in the morning. We ended up going out for breakfast and paid around $40. Not what we expected.||Parking was also quite difficult. There is an underground parking garage, but it fills up quickly as it is too small for the number of rooms in the building. Had to park down the street and walk back to the hotel – in the rain.||Wifi worked fine - once we plugged in the router. Again, where is maintenance and/or housekeeping to make sure the room is suitable and ready to be occupied by a paying guest?? Simple things to make sure room amentities are working properly.||Spent a short amount of time on the balcony in the morning. We couldn’t stand it much longer than 5 minutes. The amount of noise coming from the road was insane and the guy next door was chain smoking on his balcony with his smoke wafting straight over to us.||We left the hotel in the morning and noticed a sign at what looked like a bar that stated that breakfast was no longer being served and the café was temporarily closed – dated March 23, 2020 – over 4 years ago!! We brought this to the attention of the front desk agent who said she had never seen the sign. Also attaching a pic of the sign. Our stay was in April 2024.||After we left the property, we contacted Airbnb to let them know about the breakfast issue. They reviewed the Airbnb listing and confirmed that the host did offer it. As the breakfast was not available, Airbnb offered to refund the full price of our stay. We accepted.||We were not planning to leave any review as we preferred to just forget about this stay, but that all changed when we read the review the host left us on Airbnb. The host accused us of staying the night and then refusing to pay at check out. Anyone who has ever used Airbnb knows that you pay for the stay prior to arrival via the Airbnb website. Absolutely disgraceful on the part of the host/management. As such, we felt it necessary to share our experience with Trip Advisor and will do so also on other review websites along with evidence by way of photos.||Overall, it is clear management doesn’t care about the cleanliness or maintenance of this property. They also flat out lied when they reviewed us as Airbnb guests. Reading through many of the other reviews (many of which are very recent), it is clear we are not the only ones who feel this way. This property needs a management overhaul and until that happens, my recommendation is to avoid this place and...
Read moreThe pool and spa were great, warm & big. Unfortunately that was the only thing the hotel had going for it. Sauna & gym were locked but no sign stating this or how to unlock it. Sign stated was for hotel guest only. Beds were actually comfortable, pillows could have been better. The iron and ironing board were terrible & old, marked one of my skirts because the iron was horrible and had marks on it. No dishwasher (which most hotels with kitchenette's have), kitchen ware were old & tatty, only 2 odd forks, knives, spoons, 2 plates, bowls etc which were different sizes. Mugs were small, no extra bowls etc for snacks or nibbley's. No spare garbage bags were supplied. Only 1 hand towel no tea towel provided. Shower screen was 1/3 of the bath so much of the water ended up on the floor, NO EXHAUST FAN in the bathroom which wasn't great, wouldn't want any family member of mine use it if they had asthma. Not enough hanging hooks etc for towels. Bedside lamps did not work & one side the lamp shade was broken, kept falling off the lamp, when the receptionist was notified, he just laughed & stated yes we know, that's fine (as I didn't want to be charged for a broken lamp), old clothes horse was provided but looked like it had a few rust stains on it so wasn't able to place my clothes on there. The whole room/bathroom needed painting & updating. No safe in the room, again most hotels at least provide safe's. Carpet needs replacing & smelt a little. TV was a little small & too high up above the fridge. Sofa was quite small only able to sit 2 small size people. Was noisy outside most mornings. Lucky I am an early riser.......No beach towels were on offer for the pool or the beach and no free internet service which was very annoying and not expected, again most hotels offer free internet service. There was also a ?dining room near the reception which looked like they use to serve breakfast, tea/coffee etc but I was told they don't any longer. This would have been nice or a cafe there. The reception was also not very presentable, old & tacky looking. I honestly felt for the price (even though we got a reasonable price for 2 nights) was definitely not worth it. Unfortunately the bad outweighed the few good things the hotel had...
Read moreMy partner and I wanted a nice night away for our anniversary, instead ended up somewhere from hotel nightmares.. Checking in was a lengthy process in itself, however the experience was pleasant. As stated on the website, parking is limited so we parked on the street and carried our bags to our room. For one night our room cost $290, the location and spa was the main attraction for us. Upon walking into our “renovated” room it was small and dusty. We put our bags down and had a look around.. we were met with dust, dust and more dust. The bed sheets had stains, pillowcase and vanity had hairs on them, ants in the bed, windowsills thick coating of dust, food crumbs on the bench, fridge and sauce on the wall as well as numerous spills on the walls. We called reception and let them know we had stains and hair on the sheets and they were lovely over the phone and brought a new set of sheets up for us. The lady asked to see the stains and hairs to take photos and notified us all the cleaners had left and we could go down to reception and ask the manager to make the bed if we wanted…. $290 to remake our own bed, I think not. We let her know we weren’t happy with the other things and each issue was met with an excuse “the cleaners don’t wipe the windows every day” “hair was probably from the cleaners” “can’t do anything about ants” our favourite was facial hairs all over a tissue box and she said “it’s a tissue box? You grab the tissues not the box..?!” This hotel had no care or regard to hygenie, hospitality or basic cleanliness. We went down to reception and asked for our money back as we didn’t want to stay in a dirty room for $290 per night and were met with a $50 cleaning fee for laundry because we had pulled the sheets back after finding some initial stains on the top sheet and went investigating to see if there was more stains and new laundry was required. They said they couldn’t resell the room to someone else and as such we had to pay a fee. We stayed at the Dorsett for an extra $50 and the difference was not even comparable, the service, hospitality, beauty and value for money was exceptional. Do not waste your money...
