Food: my partner and I came to the restaurant because it looked very busy so it must’ve been great. But to our surprise the food was dry and stuck together. It tasted like raw pasta. For a “so called Italian restaurant” that’s disgusting. He had a Pomodoro spaghetti, and I had Cabanara gnocchi. The cheese topping tasted like it was off and The pasta itself was soggy and tasted old. I really didn’t want to eat it.
Price
The pricing was absolutely not worth it. You could literally go to any other Italian restaurant in surfers Paradise for cheaper that taste way better. Our Meals for two pastas, two complimentary breads and two drinks for $71.45. If the meals were bigger I would understand why it’s expensive but the meals were such small portions I was shocked when the waiter gave us our food. Also if you want to pay in cash don’t bother because they don’t except cash which I think is ridiculous, it’s because they want you to pay on card so they can charge you extra which should be illegal. The food isn’t worth the price at all, I would save your money and go to another better Italian restaurant. Like I said I wouldn’t of eaten it , but because of it being so expensive we had no choice.
Service
The service was ok, but we had to call two waiters over just to order our meal because if we did it through the QR code they would’ve charge just 4-5 dollars more than if we just call the waiter over which is ridiculous and I don’t know how this is right at all. I had a hard time understanding the waiter I had to make her repeat herself three times, she wasn’t letting me order and trying to hurry me up. Absolutely not right at all. You are in a service industry come on how do you expect us to enjoy our experience with your restaurant if you are rushing our orders.
Atmosphere
She put us right near the door and people where just rushing through. We asked the waiter if we could sit outside as there wasn’t many people put she completely ignored us.
Overall I would say the restaurant isn’t worth the money it’s a below average Italian restaurant. Save your money and time for another nicer...
Read moreWe lost out local vapianos in the UK so I was excited to take my family here to show them what it's all about and we all left rather disappointed.
Firstly they had a singer performing Jasmine Rain. She had a great voice but my god the speaker was so loud we couldn't even conversate with each other l at the table due to this and even the staff couldn't hear us and vise versa when ordering. You could even see the staff side eyeing and looking at it as they were clearly annoyed at it also.
We ordered 2 starters, one being meatballs but they were cold when they came out.
One member of our party ordered the risotto and it was really bland. I am not exaggerating when I say the amount of salt she added to try fix it and still there was no flavor. At the end as we were ready to leave a staff member asked how everything was, we mentioned this and he offered to have it remade but the rest of us had already eaten so we didn't want to risk having it remade and for to sit and eat on her own, if it was edible the second time. We were not chasing a refund on it but the option would have been nice as she only took 2 bites out of it.
Finally, I thought in vapianos you go upto the pizza or pasta station and order it with the chef and they make it in front of you? Did that change or was it just a UK thing? I thought this was the whole appeal Vapianos.
Anyway I enjoyed my chicken Alfredo but the above really made it not seem value for money.
We honestly left, heard a street performer on the street outside she the girl inside performing was 10x as loud.
Never in my life have I seen this and I think the staff should of had her turn her...
Read moreWent to Vapiano at Surfers and waited about 5 minutes to be seated. We were first placed in a loud area, and a staff member gave us a very detailed explanation of how to order using the QR code. As Gen Z, we’re pretty tech-savvy, so it wasn’t necessary but the effort was appreciated.
We moved to a quieter spot and placed our order: a gluten-free pizza, gluten-free pasta, and drinks, as one of our party has coeliac disease and can’t eat gluten. We also ordered a side of bread. Drinks arrived within 10 minutes, and the pizza followed after 15–20 minutes. However, the pasta took another 20 minutes to arrive. Thankfully, we were sharing, but if we had been eating separately, someone would’ve been waiting over 40 minutes for their meal.
When the pasta finally arrived, it came with regular bread placed directly on top - making the gluten-free meal unsafe for our coeliac guest. The pasta was also undercooked and chewy. We spoke to a waitress, who was very apologetic and quickly arranged a new plate. She kindly offered us a free round of drinks, which we appreciated. The replacement pasta came out hot and properly cooked about 10 minutes later.
The bartender was also using bare hands to grab dehydrated lemon slices for drinks, instead of tongs. As someone who works in hospitality, I understand handwashing regularly is cleaner than gloves, but tongs or something should still be used.
Overall, it was a mediocre experience and we walked away disappointed. Grateful for the waitress though. Do...
