Last night I arrived to the club by myself. I was granted entry upon supplying ID and proceeded to the front bar with a girl that saw and knew. As we approached the bar, we were served by a young female. She was very friendly. My friend and I talked away, and the bartender engaged well with two excited and talkative customers. We ordered two drinks, and paid. We then ordered another two drinks straight away, and paid. By this time, we had two drinks each. As we were about to leave, my friend ordered another two drinks, and paid. The female bartender began to make the drinks when a male bartender with short ginger-ish hair approached her and said that customers could only have two drinks at a time. In fairness, we did try to persuade the male to let us have them since we had already paid. He denied us and then walked away, without offering us a refund for the drinks. Clearly unaware of this rule, the female bartender apologised as we moved away from the bar to quickly finish one of our drinks so that we could take the ones we had already paid for.
We went to play the pokies for a while and then returned to the bar, where we were refused service, because some of the beverage tipped out of my friends glass as she bumped it while she placed it on the bar. We once again moved away, and then were informed by a young security guard that my friend had to leave. She needed to use the bathroom first, so he said yes, and as she went away I talked to him and he was friendly, and polite.
I joined my friend in the bathroom, where we came out and she was required to leave. She requested to leave through the back bar entrance so that she could get a taxi. As the three of us walked together, I asked the security guard why she had to go. He said because he was told that he had to kick her out and there wasn't anything he could do about it.
Still not understanding why she should be kicked out, we continued to the back, where the young security guard left us. We were greeted by an older security guard with glasses, who then tried to kick me out too. I said I was allowed to stay, and we argued until I told him to get a hold of the people at the front bar and confirm. He contacted them through his earpiece and was told only my friend had to go. I didn't receive any apology for trying to be shoved out of the door.
As I got my girlfriend's number before she walked out, I noticed that not only the security guard was watching us, but also FOUR other men who work at the club, standing by the check-in counter. One was the manager. They watched as we exchanged numbers, and stared with judgement. Sorry, but shouldn't four men be busy at work instead of watching two women exchange numbers, one of who unfairly was getting kicked out?
As my friend was being led out, she handed me my phone, which I dropped and immediately picked up. One of the men watching, almost certain it was the manager, commented "Jesus." How rude. Yes, I dropped my phone, and yes I had a few drinks and was upset that my friend was kicked out. But these men could have kept their comments to themselves, or talked a bit softer so I couldn't hear. It was so unprofessional.
I decided to walk around the back to try and find someone I knew, before leaving shortly after, as I felt eyes burning through the back of my head by staff.
I walked out willingly and took a taxi home, very upset.
As someone who used to work at the Workers Club as a bartender, and enjoy the friendly atmosphere, I can clearly see that this has changed. I've never been spoken to and about so rudely at a club and it was definitely the worst customer experience I've had. Perhaps a little bit of staff training should be undertaken about dealing with customers. Yes, I will take full responsibility and say that I had some drinks, and may have seemed like I was overreacting, but what can you expect when you are treated so poorly?
The Workers Club has lost a customer. I will...

My wife drove from Canberra after 🇺🇸 USA Hours, to take me to the Club at 12.30am, believing the VERY BOLDLY OPENING HOURS ON THE DOORS CLOSING 3.00AM. Despite explaining the situation, and requesting could I at least collect my "Ticket" for $500. I was told No. Not only am I not renewing my Membership, I fully intend to report this matter to the NSW Gaming Commision. Gambling Licenses are issued with not only with Responsibilities, also Customer Rights to expect Service Standards to be met. I will be coming in to Collect the $500, I wasn't allowed to collect at 12.35 am, despite a surfeit of Staff, who had ample time to block, my entry, and treat me without respect of any kind, but couldn't allow me to collect my Ticket. In general I have always found the Service Staff wonderful, friendly and helpful, and I would like to make extremely clear.

Read moreWORST FOOD and EVEN WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE
Terrible experience with the bistro manager (Jane) who was totally disrespectful and rude to me when I complaint of the burnt $36 steak they served, literally pulling the plate from my hands, and refused to replace or refund...
In her words
"it is cooked with Open Grill" .. " the chef is happy with the food served".. " you can order another meal at your own expense.."
When I asked for her name at my table, she turned around ignored me as I follow her right back to the kitchen, refusing to tell me her name.. and told me " you can not come here.."
luckily the other server told me the rude lady name as "Jane"
Also luckily, the duty manager Courtney was very understanding of my complaint and offered me a meal voucher or a replacement meal which I accepted..
I have been in Australia for over 35 years and that was the worst char burnt steak and the worst customer service from an old white Australian woman..
I certainly don't want anyone else to put up with that type of rude, disrespectful service just for his/her dinner.
Again.. thanks to the duty manager, I get to enjoy a...
