Opposite Queen Victoria Markets lies @HelloJose_Au for some Mexican fare. The hand pressed tacos looked appealing so got: - slow cooked beef, chipotle cream, pickled cabbage, chilli - beer battered fish, spiced up cream, pickled cabbage A golden brown light super crispy batter encases perfectly cooked tender fish served along with a pickled cabbage. Very enjoyable particularly with a squeeze of lime. The slow cooked beef is super tender and full of beef flavour, very tasty but needed a dash more seasoning. I like the Jalapenos which deliver a but of kick and background chilli hum. The corn tacos are also very enjoyable. Good size tacos with a range of hot sauces at the table, complimentary popcorn, Mexican themed chilled environment, lovely dinner, solid offering. Probably need to work on adding a salsa for that burst of freshness typical of a taco. #MexicanFood #tacos #beerbatteredfish #slowcookedbeef #slaw #corntacos #foodie #melbournecbd #melbournefood @zomatomelb

🥑 Ceviche Tostadita 🌽 Corn, Parmesan, Spiced Cream 🐟 Fish Taco 🌮 Chorizo Mince Taco 🍩 Churros, Dulce De Leche Hello Jose is a Mexican-inspired eatery located in West Melbourne, right opposite the Queen Victoria Market. Most of the dining space is in their outdoor, undercover courtyard, fit with heating so you don’t have to worry about the winter nights. Our favourite item off the menu was the Tostaditas, tasty and fresh. We also loved the churros! Generous, covered in sugar and come with a delicious caramel dipping sauce. The Tacos were okay, we found them a little bland. The Fish Taco was moist, had a lot of slaw but a little too big. The Chorizo Taco kind of tasted like bolognese? The tortillas are hand pressed in house daily. 🌮 Overall, it’s enjoyable. A good spot for a drink and a quick bite. You can order via QR code, so perfect for group catch-ups. They also do Boozy Brunches on a Saturday or Sunday for $65pp (min. 8ppl).🍹

I didn’t even enter the restaurant and I was already greeted by the disgusting behaviour from the Hello Jose workers. Lukumades being more popular unlike this restaurant, it was packed with customers. Mind you , it was pouring HEAVY rain and there isn’t enough shelter for everyone at Lukumades as it is a small shop. To shield us from the heavy rain some people stood under the Hello Jose’s shelter which is right next door. I as of many people weren’t even standing there long but all of a sudden the shelter starts getting pulled back, we were left standing there with no shelter and copped more of the heavy rain. I looked in the restaurant to see what was going on and I could see the workers laughing and gesturing us to shoo off like we were flies annoying them. If any of the workers were actual decent human beings , they would’ve come outside and told us nicely that they didn’t want us to stand in-front of their store and we would’ve moved away respectfully. But to purposely remove the shelter and laugh at us being rained upon to fill their own selfish amusement is absolutely horrible.

Would they have done the same to elderly people, or to their own family members? Probably, because by the many bad reviews I have read on their page, they do not care about the customers or people in general but solely on the money.

IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER'S REPLY* Instead of attacking people for sharing their negative experience at your restaurant , you should take it and improve your work. By your response, you are very unprofessional and need to be retrained in the customer service area which you and your workers lack SO much of.

It was not even near your closing time. I stood there around 9:40 and there were no customers in your outside dining area. It looked like there were hardly any customers in your store at the time as well. If it was a 'private outside dining area' like you said , it would be blocked off or a sign would be up. But you don't not own a footpath.

We weren't even standing there for long and we didn't even disturb anyone. Closing up the shelter was not 'packing' up, it was clearly your workers doing it as a payback to us for standing in front of your store. Your workers even laughed at us and shooed us off. Again, if you didn't want us to stand in front of the store, kindly say something about it. It's not that hard.

It doesn't matter that we didn't dine at your restaurant, you do not treat people this way. The lack of respect and human decency you and your workers have is hurting this business. You are at fault.

By your own logic, if you were 'packing up' for your 'end of service' then a group of people standing outside wouldn't matter.

Ok let’s taco-bout it. The waiting staff showed to be incompetent from start as they neglected to make a list of our orders as they “would remember it”. Following a seemingly self inspired prophesy, they presented us with the wrong orders. Our group expressed concerns with this but they refused to take them back and/or swap it due to the kitchen being closed. (Even though the issue was brought to their intention straight away. Furthermore the table next to us received food approximately 20 minutes after claiming the kitchen was closed). On top of this a spokesperson of our group was met with an abrupt interruption from the waiter who accused her of “not even ordering” despite her holding the plate of taco’s that were not ordered. This rudeness with the occasional mix of sarcasm continued throughout the entirety of the interaction with the waiter even through the payment process. This again arose another challenge as our group got overcharged even after they made us pay for food we DIDN’T order. We immediately expressed concern to which was shut down through interruptions of fervent denial. Eventually we left as they would not budge on overcharging us and had our own conversation of the matter outside which concluded with us returning back into the store to prove the mistake. It was only after this lengthy time and pursuit to which it was finally agreed as a mistake claiming that there was a “mistake with the machine.” Getting to the pointy end off this review one of our group member got stabbed by 2 nails sticking out of the table lol. That now seems to be the only point to going to the...

I am pretty disappointed with José's, We only ordered 4 Tacos, we were planning on making a second order after having the first serve but they took over 30 minutes to serve, so my girlfriend politely asked how much longer it would take? I was watching Her speak with the waitress, when my girlfriend turned her back, the waitress appeared to be making fun of Her behind Her back... my girlfriend came back in a bit of shock as she wasn't expecting to be spoken to the way she was... this is unacceptable behaviour! I will never return or recommend this place to anyone.

When the food was delivered to our table, it wasn't brought to us by the waitress that was serving us originally.. instead a gentleman with actual manners came and apologised, I feel sorry for him as I imagine he must have to apologies on her behalf often.

The Tacos were lacking in flavour so I really had to rely on the condiments. I was warned that the jalapénos were extremely hot.. I couldn't even taste them, and I put my girlfriend's on mine also, so that's strange.

This place is over priced and under spiced... It's a NO from me...
