Our love for Ethiopian food only got bigger after our visit to this place. Its a bit a small place and should be able to seat 25-30 people indoors and has about 4 tables outdoor by the street.
We decided to pop in there, so called to check if they’ve a table available for us and they confirmed it. We walked in, as it was a warm summer day we got a table outdoor. Hubby ordered the combination non veg ($26), wifey ordered combination veg ($23). We also ordered a beer ($6) and a glass of house Savignon Blanc ($6).
The combination veg has a massive Injera along with s salad and 7 different types of veg curries including 2 types of lentils and one pumpkin. The non veg combination has a massive Injera, salad and chicken, lamb, fish, lentils curries.
In spite of it being a massive meal, the hubby smashed the entire meal the wifey almost finished it. We totally loved the food and we when we stepped out all we could think of hitting the bed. We were so stuffed and totally satisfied. Plus it didn’t break the bank with the bill came to only $62.
Totally loved the food, the owner was really nice to us. He had a lengthy conversation with us. We spoke about our Indian origins and how their food has similarities with Indian food. Definitely worth the visit and we’ll...
Read moreLittle Africa Restaurant in Melbourne is a hidden gem for anyone seeking a truly authentic Eritrean culinary experience. The daily platter for two is a fantastic introduction to the cuisine, offering a variety of dishes that are bursting with flavor and texture. Each bite is a journey into the rich cultural heritage of Eritrea, from the tender and juicy lamb to the aromatic and delicately spiced lentils.
Arguably one of the best things that I've had the pleasure of shoving into my mouth orifices, the platter comes with injera, a traditional Ethiopian and Eritrean sourdough flatbread that is soft and spongy, perfect for soaking up the delicious stews and sauces. While deceiving at first glance, portions are extremely generous, we had the daily platter for three people but it could easily feed four, making it an excellent value for money.
The restaurant itself exudes warmth and hospitality, with the friendly and attentive staff adding to the overall experience. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, creating a sense of comfort that makes you feel right at home. Overall, Little Africa Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking for an authentic and delicious Eritrean...

Enjoy authentic Ethiopian stews and curries served on top of injera, a large sourdough flatbread made from fermented teff flour.
Ethiopians eat most of the time with their right hands, using pieces of injera to pick up bites of entrées and side dishes. If you’re not someone who can eat with your hands you can order take away via door dash.
The flatbread was surprisingly really sour but once you take a bite with the sides the sourness vanishes! A sink nearby so you can easily wash your hands before and after eating.
The five of us picked one item each off the menu to get and this is what we ordered. Fool: fava beans Doho Zighini Goat Derek - pan fried lamb. This had some crunch and offered texture to our meal. Asa Zighini - fish. This was the sweetest one.
They all were served with a different curry/stew from each other.
We demolished it! It was a really good feed and affordable too. We were stuffed!
We recommend taking a few friends along to share the experience and to...
