Lukumades West Melbourne — Restaurant in Melbourne

I work in Perth in the coal mines Monday to Friday. I take the late flight home every Friday night and arrive to my sleeping children here in Melbourne. I kiss them on the forehead and tuck them in nice and tight. Every Saturday the kids wake up at 6am excited to see Dad. They run in, rip off the blankets and smother me with affection. They love when Dad is back for the weekend because they know that the weekend always involves a trip to Lukumades.

As we arrived this afternoon, the line for the warm Greek donuts was longer then the Woolies in Box Hill after a restock of baby formula.

The kids and I wait out in the cold, precious minutes tick by when suddenly, the donut machine has a breakdown. 15,20,30 minutes go by, curious customers walk in one by one to assess the situation and leave in disappointment and heartbreak. No donuts.

My kids wont look at me in the eyes. Heartbreaking for a man who only sees his kids 2/7 days a week. I ended up taking my crying children to old mate Mr. Whippy. My kids all suffer from lactose intolerance and I’ve spent the last 40 minutes scrubbing violent sprays of diarrhoea from the backseat of the family van.

On 6 November we visited Lukumades located in 83 Peel Street, West Melbourne ✨ this is just outside of Queen Victoria Market!

We got: 🍩 Balles Bougatsa Each donut is filled with CUSTARD 🤤🤤 then topped with cinnamon & icing sugar. Best classic flavors combo, perfect to have after a big meal when you crave for something sweet & light.

🥤 Salted Caramel & Lotus Shake Whichever one you pick, you can be sure that your shake is gonna be thicc, creamy but not too heavy! The flavor was prominent with perfect level of sweetness 😋

A bit disappointing, ordered to go a combo Half Half box for $14.90, between a Twix Fix - Supposed to be (Melted milk chocolate, crushed biscuit and drizzled caramel sauce) Dark Delight - Supposed to be (Melted dark chocolate and crushed pistachios) Not worth it, got a squashed up mess in a very small box, of a bit oily/soggy/chewy balls with just splashed on milk and dark chocolate. No sign of any biscuit or pistachios or caramel sauce. Yeah they were nice and warm, the chocolate good quality and tasty, but kinda gross from the amount of oil and not good looking from opening the box. Service not the best, lady working today not busy at all when we got there, but made you feel like a major inconvenience just ordering something. Not much care in their work or quality of product.
