I recently had the pleasure of attending the Donut Festival at Queen Victoria Market, and it was an experience that left me with a satisfied sweet tooth and a craving for more. The festival offered an array of delectable treats. Still, one standout that truly stole the show was the American Doughnut Kitchen and their incredibly fresh and warm doughnuts with raspberry jam. Seeing the golden-brown doughnuts being lovingly prepared right in front of my eyes added an element of anticipation and made my mouth water. The American Doughnut Kitchen's doughnuts were a true testament to the art of doughnut-making. Each doughnut boasted a perfect balance of light and fluffy texture on the inside, while the outer layer had a satisfying crispiness that added a delightful contrast. However, the generous filling of raspberry jam truly set them apart. The jam's tangy sweetness complemented the doughnut's buttery richness, creating a harmonious blend of flavours that left me craving more. And that was the exact moment when I saw a second doughnut truck on the other end of the market. One of the highlights of the American Doughnut Kitchen was their commitment to serving doughnuts fresh and warm. The moment I took my first bite, I was greeted with a warm, melt-in-your-mouth sensation that elevated the entire experience. Evidently, the American Doughnut Kitchen takes pride in ensuring their customers enjoy their treats at the peak of perfection. While the American Doughnut Kitchen stole the spotlight, numerous other stalls showcased an assortment of creative and unique doughnut flavours catering to a wide range of taste preferences. From classic flavours like chocolate and cinnamon to innovative combinations like matcha and salted caramel, there was something for everyone. In addition to the tantalising treats, the Donut Festival provided a lively and festive atmosphere. The market was exciting, and families, friends, and doughnut enthusiasts gathered to indulge in their favourite treats. The friendly and passionate vendors added to the overall ambience, creating an enjoyable experience for all attendees. Overall, the Donut Festival at Queen Victoria Market was a delightful treat for doughnut lovers. The American Doughnut Kitchen's fresh and warm doughnuts with raspberry jam were undoubtedly the highlight, delivering a taste sensation that will linger in my memory. Whether you're a doughnut aficionado or simply looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, this festival is a must-visit. Just be sure to arrive with an empty stomach and a willingness to indulge in the delicious world...

When I told both Melbourne locals and those who had visited previously that I was heading to the Queen Victoria Markets for the first time, 90% of people (if not more!) said I needed to get in early and head straight to the American Doughnut Kitchen van. Not one to argue with the majority, I decided to do just that.

I rocked up at the market at 9am sharp on Sunday and was delighted to be the only one in the queue. The workers were happy, friendly and even though I just ordered one jam doughnut, the lady serving me threw in an extra one as a treat šŸ™‚ā€ā†”ļø

I found a seat, got the just-fried doughnut out of the bag and went to doughy heaven. I’m a keep-it-basic cinnamon doughnut kind of girl, but this was a real treat. It was warm, so fresh, the jam was more like a delicious berry coulis and had a slight tang (which helped offset the sugar coating). The dough itself wasn’t overly sweet which again I really liked. It was more bread like than brioche like, and felt more ā€˜traditional’.

Overall, it was the best $2.20 I’ve spent in a long while.

*I did notice that after about 9:30am the queue to the van became super long so it’s worth...

It's a rare feat, in an era of culinary extravagance, for something so seemingly simple to achieve such profound delight. Yet, at the bustling heart of the Queen Victoria Markets, nestled amidst the vibrant chaos, lies a bastion of pure, unadulterated joy: the American Donut Kitchen. And their jam donuts? They are, without hyperbole, a sweet symphony.

Each donut arrives a testament to perfection – still warm, a golden globe dusted generously with fine sugar, promising a world of indulgence within. The first bite is a revelation: a cloud of airy, yielding dough, so light it practically dissolves on the tongue, gives way to a burst of intensely fruity, perfectly sweet jam. It's not just a filling; it's a vibrant, glistening heart of berry goodness that provides the ideal counterpoint to the pillowy exterior. This isn't just a donut; it's a moment of pure, unadulterated bliss, a perfect marriage of texture and taste that captures the very essence of comfort and culinary craftsmanship. A true...

Bought one hot jam doughnut for $2.30. Came around lunchtime, no crazy queue. They’ve temporarily moved to the E-Shed due to nearby construction, but it’s still easy to find. The doughnut was piping hot, crispy outside and soft inside, filled with sweet jam. Very sweet though, one is definitely enough or it gets jelak! A nice little treat to end your food hunt at the market haha. šŸ©
