I placed my order at the counter, I asked for 2 eggs with one of the meals, and I paid the requested amount, believing my order had been recorded correctly. Meals arrive with only 1 egg on each meal, I enquired about the second egg, and I was told that I hadn't been charged for 2 and the women left.

Reviewing the meal cost, we believed we had been charged for 2, so we politely asked for a second egg.

A short time later, a copy of the bill arrived was and dropped in front of me, no discussion was offered, and again, the women just walked off.

The issue being, I ordered an extra egg, the order was not loaded correctly, and the friends we had brought to the cafe recalled me clearly asked for 2 eggs with one of the meals.

It was about them being right and me being wrong, which made me feel undervalued as a customer.

Customer service was so poor, sadly I will not return to this cafe again.

$3 has ended in a significant loss in revenue for the cafe as we liked...

Little lotus is like the girl you fall in love with when you go on vacation as a teen but ends in tragedy cause you can't take her home. You call each other for a while but it's not the same.

The place had a real nice Scandinavian feel to it, bright, warm and homely. The staff were nice and the decor was very neat. The cuisine was Asian inspired breakfast classics all vegan of course.

We ordered a mushroom medley and cornfritters with a chai latte. The mushroom medley was amazing, generous serves of beautiful sauteed oyster, Enoki , brown and other mushies with a sweet ketchap manis on toast with spinach. Just amazingly meaty and flavourful.

The corn fritters were also special, crispy with a wonderful cashew cheese like sauce through it. And the chai was just so spicy and perfect.

If this was home this would...

Overall: Great food, great coffee, amazing service and ambiente. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Hobart, but for vegans it's a must visit. Every detail of the café seems carefully selected. We got lotus café recommended and went there with high expectations, which were exceeded. The coffees, both the iced latte and the single origin long black, were well-made and tasted as they should. The food was great, too. The chickpea pancakes tasted amazing and where the best plant-based one we ever had. Moreover, the service was superb. At first, they missed our order, but they noticed by themselves after not too long, and we still got a free coffee and little pastry. Apart from that, they had a very cool playlist running and not the basic hippie-café-playlist you hear at every second...

I am visiting as a tourist looking for good vegan eats. Very relaxed vibe inside. Staff are all very focused on putting out great food and coffee, seriously great to just watch them whiz through work effortlessly. Also noticed how clean and organised the kitchen looks (kitchen is very open to the customer area) There is a place for everything and I don’t see any staff wasting time looking for things while they worked, they knew exactly where things are - impressive. Shop is clean and conveniently located near Hobart CBD. Just a 10 minute walk from the pier. Food was moderately priced, worthwhile as well. Lotus bowl was the most expensive item and it was $23. Food was obviously delicious, will be here again before we leave town!!
