This restaurant is the biggest rip off. I ordered takeaway xiaolongbao for $15. Guess how many? 4... Yea I'm not even kidding, they charged almost $4 per xiaolongbao. This kind of price gouging is honestly unheard of. I've been to some expensive restaurants but nothing compared to this kind of madness.
To owner's response: I thank you for responding to my review. I understand the extra fees delivery platforms charge. However, your price is still ridiculously above every other comparable restaurant that hand makes their Xiaolongbao. Let me give a few examples.
Ding Tai Fung charges $17 for 8 xiaolongbao on UberEATS. Shanghai Street charges $16 for 8 xiaolongbao on UberEATS.
Both of these restaurant's hand makes them and they are both charging significantly less (almost half of your price) than you do while being on a delivery platform. Not to mention their location would attract significantly more rent than you.
There is absolutely no logical or sensible reason for you to put such a high price tag for Dim Sums, you are not a fine dining restaurant, only greed is in play here.
In relation to being transparent, when I ordered, the amount wasn't shown on the delivery app, it was only recently added, if I saw that it was $15 for 4 Xiaolongbao I would never have ordered it.
I know you take pride in your products, while I think it is of decent quality and taste, it is nothing special and there are plenty of comparables. I suggest you reflect on that and charge people a reasonable price, don't let your pride become arrogance, because your customers are not...
Read moreVery disappointing experience. Visited on the 9th of June 2024. The ordering process involves diners filling out an order sheet, which is collected by the wait staff. Our waitress collected our order sheet and confirmed the order by correctly acknowledging each item marked. It was after this point that something went wrong. One of the items (a soup) never arrived and when a waiter came to collect all of the plates for the other dishes, I asked about the missing item; this was about an hour after placing the order. About 30 minutes later, the soup arrived. We were actually about to get up and leave because we were so sick of waiting, but the soup arrived just at the last moment. At the end of it, they still had the audacity to charge us full price and were not at all apologetic for the mistake. I made a written complaint that same day to the restaurant via Facebook Messenger, in order to keep the matter private. They read the message within the hour but didn't have the courtesy to respond in 10 days. The food was fine but the service...
Read moreI didn’t appreciate how a male staff treated our large group, scolding us twice and very publicly. We had a reservation but nothing was mentioned about ordering a main course, and even though we did order main courses we were accused of not. I know it is stressful to be in this business. But it was not necessary to loudly announce to the whole restaurant. Just tell the lead customer privately. And there was no sign saying we cannot take plain water jugs ourselves (as is common in other restaurants in Hobart), so loudly saying that ‘if you break something then it is very difficult for us’ is a very rude thing to say. I brought my Malaysian friends and their visiting parents to this place to support your efforts and this is how I was treated. I still gave 3 stars because the other female staff were nice and they were able to reserve tables for a large group at short notice....
