My first night in Hobart led me to dinner at Ly Quan Vietnamese Restaurant, and honestly, it was exactly what I needed ❤️
I had an early flight that morning, spent the day sightseeing, and by evening I was feeling a little under the weather. All I wanted was something warm, comforting, and soupy. Thankfully, this gem was walking distance from my hotel, so I thought, “Perfect!”
I got there about 30 minutes before closing and felt a bit bad for arriving so late. But thank heavens, the owners were the loveliest people. I later found out that one of them was Indonesian (mini reunion moment 😄), and his lovely wife, after whom the restaurant is named, is the amazing chef behind the food. They didn’t make me feel rushed at all and happily welcomed me in.
I ordered the chicken noodle soup, and oh my goodness, it was delicious and huge portion. Super fresh, so comforting, and exactly what I needed for my sinus. (TMI maybe, but I could literally feel my sinuses unclogging as I slurped it down 😂). The homemade sauce they recommended on the side. Absolute winner.
The ambience was another highlight. It was so clean, cosy, comfortable, and peaceful. Even though it was close to closing time, I felt completely relaxed and at home as the owners chatted with me, and honestly, that made the whole experience even more special. Being on my first ever solo trip, little encounters like these meant so much. For a while, I didn’t feel alone at all and I felt cared for, welcomed, and nourished.
It wasn’t just a meal; it was truly food made with love and good vibes. I left feeling lighter, happier, and so thankful for the homely hospitality.
I’ll definitely be back next time with my husband and family ❤️
Thank you both for such hospitality...

I recently stumbled upon a newly opened Vietnamese restaurant right in the middle of Hobart CBD, and I’m so glad I did! From the moment I stepped in, the warm, inviting ambience and beautifully curated decorations instantly transported me to Southeast Asia. There’s a charming mix of modern elegance and traditional Vietnamese touches that sets the perfect mood for a cozy meal.
I ordered the Bún Bò Huế and, wow—what a dish! The first sip of that rich, spicy broth took me straight back to my holiday in Huế. The flavor was deeply authentic, with just the right balance of spice, umami, and fragrant herbs. Every bite was packed with soul and nostalgia—it's clear that the kitchen knows exactly what they’re doing when it comes to capturing true Vietnamese flavor.
To top it all off, I tried their Vietnamese Creamy Salted Coffee. It was perfectly curated—smooth, bold, with that lovely salted caramel edge that makes it so unique. Absolutely addictive.
What really made the experience even better was the customer service. The staff were incredibly attentive, and the owner was friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about bringing authentic Vietnamese cuisine to Hobart. You can feel the heart and pride in everything they do.
And the best part? The prices are more than reasonable. For the quality of food, ambience, and service, it’s a total steal.
Highly recommended place—whether you're craving a taste of Vietnam or just looking for a great meal in the city, this is...
Read moreI was excited to try this new store, especially with their opening promotion—one Vietnamese banh mi plus a free drink, which is perfect for those with limited lunch breaks. However, I can’t give a positive review.
First, I understand that since it's a new store, the staff might still be getting familiar with their roles. But I ordered a Crispy Skin Pork Banh Mi and a Vietnamese Yogurt through the self-ordering kiosk, and the wait time exceeded 30 minutes!
Second, the staff preparing drinks seemed overwhelmed and didn’t check orders properly. Instead of calling out names or checking receipts, he just asked waiting customers what they were waiting for. What shocked me was that he completely skipped over me (I was standing near the counter) and instead asked the customer who was standing at the entrance—someone who ordered after me. I don't understand why this happened. Was it just poor organization, or was it Asian-on-Asian discrimination?
To back up my experience, I’ve attached my receipt and a screenshot of my phone showing the time after waiting nearly 30 minutes—and I still hadn’t received my food at that point.
A few suggestions for improvement:
Pre-make drinks instead of preparing them one by one like cocktails. This would greatly speed things up. Improve kitchen efficiency—the staff making banh mi were already slow, so assigning a dedicated server to bring food upstairs for table service would help a lot. I hope the store takes these points into consideration, as I was looking forward to being a...
