In general: Ecellent quality, genuinely prepared food. 9 seats, lunchtime and 4 days a week only. Price tag might seems high but quality and effort definitely matches that. Food comments: Most carefully and genuinely made ramen in Hobart. Housemade noodles are of top quality, cooked to al dente equivalent with subtle noodle flavour which pairs nicely with the clearer broth. Shoyu ramen and Vegetarian ramen are staple with special on rotation and it was Tsukemen when I visited. Torched Japanese style Chashu is another shining star. Drinks: Due to opening hours, I could only visit during working days = zero alcohol allowance. Shiso Lemonade is comfort drink especially for hot weather. Atmosphere and sitting: Classic ramen bar type sitting, 9 seats only. Visited on a really hot day and the shop has no forced ventilation except for the cooktop. Hot weather+ warm soup = less comfortable dining. Would recommend at least having fans, or even better reverse cycle.

We want to try this ramen place so went for lunch on Tuesday at 1:30 pm and there were 5 people waiting in the queue before us so about 20 minutes wait on table. We had a donburi rice with tuna topping to share and a bowl of ramen each. My husband had a vegetarian ramen and I had a special ramen with pull pork shoulder and thick ramen noodle which I really like. The chilli oil available on the table was perfect and added extra flavour to the dish! The pepper berry lomonade was also tasty and refreshing. The place run by a couple (a chef and a front of house) and has about 10 - 12 seats. The menu is short so easy to order and we had tried pretty much the whole menu today.

TLDR: wow!! if you love a bit of cozy japanese food, highly recommend ranita on a chilly day. there isn't anywhere like this in hobart, with such an intimate experience between you and the chef. seating is limited though! only 8 customers can fit at a times. while the menu is concise, it really gives the chef an opportunity to showcase his best work. as pictured, the shoyu ramen was truly delicious. the noodles were exceptionally chewy, and the broth was clear and not too rich. this i really loved, it's not often i finish my bowl of ramen. the marinated egg was perfect, and the pork was super yummy. i will definitely be back on a cold day! can't wait
