Disclaimer: I am a daily customer at this cafe.

Yesterday, a poor 1 star review was posted, I'd like to dispute it and provide any potential customers with some clarity of the events that transpired. This little cafe was busier than usual, and with some new staff on, doing their best to meet the customers' needs. Mistakes happen. Visiting cafes is a luxury we often forget in the western world. The 1 star reviewer did have their meal forgotten, however I was standing next to them when the issue wad raised. They immediately asked for a refund, when the new staff member offered for the meal to be sorted out, the customer again asked for a refund. The new staff member was profusely apologetic, trying their best in a very busy moment to manage the complaint, while the customer for a third time asked for a refund. My dispute with their review is that they stated that they were only offered a refund, implying that the cafe staff were uncaring in their mistake. This was not the case, the new staff member was genuinely concerned and doing their best to fix the mistake. The staff here do their best to be kind, serve people as quickly as possible, and provide excellent coffee and food. Leaving incorrect and damaging reviews to small businesses isn't kind or fair, it can cause irreparable harm to a businesses reputation and stress out already stressed customer service workers.

10/10 would recommend this cafe for being friendly, their delicious food (all gluten free!) And just because they deserve it in this...

The food is very good, enjoyable even if you are not a vegan or vegetarian (I am neither) and I highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch.

The bread, cakes, slices etc. they make are also good. You can get gluten free stuff including loaves of bread.

I used to get the hot chocolate daily as it is not overly sweet and i found you could really taste the cocoa.

Coffee also seems to be really good.

The staff are really nice.

They are always seem to be open on public holidays which is really useful as my usual places (which are closer to me) aren't open on these days.

Nearby parking isn't really an issue. But I like to be able to park like right outside and that's not always available, it's my only problem going...

I wish I had discovered this place sooner on my trip home! Undoubtably the best plant-based menu in all of Hobart (I looked all over, but this wins hands down!). And 100% gf for me is an added bonus. The options for food are so original and delicious sounding- I took close to half an hour to decide! We opted for the chickpea pancake and the potato rosti - so we could each share. The presentation is top notch, serving size generous, and that makes value for money very very good. And on top of it all the staff are absolutely lovely and genuine. No sense of feeling rushed, or stressed, even though there were people waiting for tables in the rain! The coffee is also some of the best I’ve...

If you could leave Hobart early on a cold morning, you probably want to do it with the taste of this cafe lingering on your palette. We were looking for a vegan(ish)hipster cafe to ease us back to normal life and this one came with a cold drip contraption to boot. We had the potato hash and chickpea omelette and both were very tasty. The hash could've been cooked more for a crispier texture but the tempeh was done well and it was filling and green with thr rocquette. The chickpea omelette was lovely too, the texture was really nice, the rice filling was also delicious. The coriander salad really gave it a nice flavourful burst. It's a lovely place that adds a lot to the neighbourhood.

One of the really cool things I have found with living in the heart of a city is having access to the best cafes. Having lived in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and now Hobart I can really appreciate the finer things of fine dining. Just down the road from where I live is Straight Up. I dropped in here for breakfast one morning. The staff were engaging and knew their stuff. You see, they have to know their stuff because Straight Up is a "no flesh" cafe. So you wont get bacon with your eggs. That suits me because I am vegetarian. Anyway, I waffle. The place is great, and as all carnivores know you can eat great at vegie places. Check it out.
