Camping in a big group down at lakes for the week, called earlier yesterday afternoon for a table booking last minute as the wind was still quite strong - spoke to Ron who was lovely and accommodated all 20 plus a high chair. On arrival we were we had to wait a little to be seated (which was fine we saw it was busy) we were greeted by a lady whom had to ask me more than twice how many of us their were and I knew from looking at the tables (reserved with my name written on them) we were on and continued to say when I spoke to Ron he said we’d be across 3 tables so it should just be these 3 tables right here. She continued to huff and puff and have no customer service skills at all. My son then spilt a drink and another lady came over and offered to help clean up and replace his spilt drink for free, we kindly refused and she continued to help us clean up the spilt drink (Thankyou, I didn’t catch her name). Food was delicious 😋 and was nice to see people gathering again and enjoying themselves! All in all was a good night, I work as a assistant manager in hospitality and have for almost 10 years now, disappointing customer service skills from the lady we were greeted by, considering how long hospitality has suffered during covid times 🙁
We come to lakes every year to go prawning, and we always come back to the bowls club for dinner as it’s nice and convenient for us.
We’ll definitely be back but would be nice if the lady greeting would put a smile on her dile (even under her mask) and seem like she’s happy to be there instead of seeming like a...
Read moreWe always come here for dinner when we stay in lakes entrance. Has always been fantastic. This time around OMG what a difference and what a negative experience. When we arrived the person at the door was quite rude.. decided to overlook based on previous experience. Walked ourselves to our table. 5 adults and 2 toddlers. The kids playground is gone.. omg whyyyyy.. it’s one of the main reasons we choose to dine here.. so we can eat in peace while the kids play. They make us pay for kids activity sheets, which we’ve received for free everywhere else we have been.. The first thing I notice is that the menu has been cut drastically. How disappointing.. they don’t even have a silly fisherman’s basket anymore.. We ordered some specials and a few things we have ordered before. The seafood ‘laska’ - inedible. Dark brown in colour, way way over salted, served with burned sourdough.. lit was literally black.. Eye fillet, served with waffle fries and some kind of dried onion slices, no veggies, no salad, very underwhelming and unbalanced meal. The chilli pasta with prawns - no flavour to this dish and was under seasoned, however the prawns were cooked well. Veggie pasta - very very bland. However our three year old liked it.. haha Chicken schnitzel with chips - the only good meal of the night. I also ordered a couple of strawberry mousses for the kids, which I cancelled based on the main meals. Disappointed is an understatement.. we definitely won’t...
Read moreMy partner and I have visited the Lakes Entrance Bowls Club twice now and unfortunately both visits left us a bit disappointed.
The first issue we had was with the menu options. It’s disappointing that gluten-free meals aren’t available as half serves, especially when you’re after a smaller lunch. The prices for meals, particularly the chicken parmigianas, are on the higher side, and unfortunately, the quality doesn’t justify the cost. The parmigianas we had weren’t particularly enjoyable, and to make matters worse, our gravy was served cold.
Another concern was the inconsistency around gluten-free options. Staff gave us mixed answers about whether the chips and gravy were gluten-free, which wasn’t very reassuring for someone with dietary restrictions.
On a positive note, the venue itself is lovely, the meal sizes are fairly generous (you’d hope so for the cost) and the staff are friendly, but the overall experience is let down by the high prices and disappointing food quality. It’s a shame because the club has potential, but we won’t be...
