It was the 2nd time this week at this place called Pizza Palace in Browns Plains after discovering this place on Tuesday. The first time, we were impressed with the food. It was delicious and the serving of their salads and chicken shish meal were a lot. We thought we found our new place to eat in Brownsplains. But second time, I ordered the lamb meal and chewed on something hard, I took it out of my mouth and found a shard of glass. I called one of the guys working there who I thought could be the manager and showed him what I found, I showed him the piece of glass. The first thing to come out of his mouth was, “oh we don’t have glass here”. 🤦🏻. As if I was the one to put it in there. He proceeds to apologise and offers to re do the meal but because I already waited for a bit originally for my meal, I was hesitant as I was very hungry. He instead offered to just changed the dip as I informed him it might have been in the dip as I put some beetroot dip in my salad and the colour of the shard glass had red on it. While he was getting my dip I went back to him and said I just want a new meal as I don’t know if there is any else in there. I’ve been working in the hospitality industry for 18 years and I know as a worker, or a business owner, if you a stuff up that bad (glass in your food is pretty much up there), you will make sure you do all you can to avoid customers coming out pissed off or leaving a bad review. The guy didn’t even offer me a refund at all. In his head that wasn’t even a good enough option to offer me. He just offered me to re make it. FYI, I probably wouldn’t have accepted the refund since I know how mistakes can happen. Specially when it might not even be your fault (as it could be a supplier issue). But if that was any of the places I’ve worked for, we would have had to apologised so hard and would’ve never let them leave paying for their meal. The sad thing is he said he called his boss to let him know, his response was he will look into it. Not make sure this customers don’t pay for their meal and re...
Read moreDecided to check this place out when I stopped in at nearby annaconda. They were not busy but when we walked in the smell from the oven was amazing.
Staff were friendly and welcoming, took our order and was quick to double check a menu item that she believed was sold out. It wasn't and the order put through quickly.
Food was pretty quick to come out. We orderd a volcano burger, a spinach and feta pide, med chips, chicken pizza and a bread with dips platter.
The chips were super crispy and tasted great. Simple chips can be hard to make special but these were awesome. The pide was filled right to the ends and was excellent with a squirt of lemon over the top to give it some zest.
The volcano burger was filled chockas with jalapenos which my brother was super happy with and he didnt realise he was getting chips with it also so another win.
The breads platter with 5 dips. Super good value, Heaps of bread and generous servings of dips. I personally found the hummus, beetroot and babagnoush to be not so good (nothing wrong with them. I just have had better and didnt find them to be that nice), but the spicy dip was good. the cucumber dip was our favourite and we were a bit dissapointed on no garlic dip but hey if you are out you are out.
The BBQ chicken pizza was perfectly cooked in a beautiful pizza oven, the flavours and taste were there and generous toppings without it feeling like I had too many toppings. In the end there was too much food and we had to get some takeaway which they were more than accomodating with.
Overall an excellent experience and if all I have to say negatively is I didnt like the dips then this place is a beautiful hidden gem of Browns Plains and I look forward to trying...
Read moreI was very disappointed and concerned with our recent meal, especially given the public holiday surcharge we paid. The rice was cold and uncooked and had a hard texture, the salad had a slimy feel as if it was not fresh or was possibly leftovers, and the meat had a pinkish tint, which made me concerned that it wasn’t cooked properly. When we told the staff they took our plate back and (for some reason) added more of their cold uncooked rice to the plate but did not replace anything so our meal was just colder when it was returned back to us. I didn’t want more of the rice, I just wanted my meal to be cooked and warm. The hummus had a hardened layer on top and I could tell that they had mixed it in to hide the layer but another one was already forming when it was brought to us. The hummus was lumpy as I could see and taste the hardened parts they mixed in. Which is so disgusting. The fat on the meat was very fresh as if it had not been cooked properly. It was quite hard to chew and the inside was pink and raw.
To make matters worse when we got home my four year son became very ill. He was crying on the toilet and vomited the food out which was so distressing to witness. Given the timing and the poor state of the meal, I’m certain the food caused him to become sick.
Considering the added cost due to the public holiday surcharge, I expected better quality and food safety. Definitely not going back after this concerning experience. The food was definitely not fresh and we couldn’t finish it so we ended up just leaving the plate like this and exiting the store. This was such a horrible experience, I wish I had pressed for a refund but they...
