What a secret garden of experiences. From the ever enthusiastic waiter to the two hours of tea tasting with friends, for a whopping $5.50 each was an incredible treat. The generous sized scones with jam and cream are $8, and quite scrumptious. A floral arrangement on each table and the option of indoor of outdoor seating was enticing and restful. They have some Indonesian fusion and English breakfast meals on the menu. They run in the stealer price range, but I would come back simply for the tea. The creme de le creme and the silk oolong were my favourites of the visit. They also have a decadent gf chocolate cake that seemed to be a hit with my friends. Overall a beautiful experience and I will most certainly return. I would say there customer service could definitely use some better training and higher standards. One time I went there was a very kind server who was attentive and helpful, another time we were completely forgotten and I kept having to come up and order or refill things and they’d get irritated that I did (as she put it, they are a table service tea house so need to serve us at our table), but they happened frequently while there so each encounter didn’t increase the service level.

(see video attached) Disappointed as I purchased a blooming flower tea gift set (5 tubes for $80) on 13/04/24 but as soon as I got home, noticed that one of the tubes had a hair in it, and another tube had bugs crawling around inside. The gift set was labelled with an expiry of 2026. I contacted the restaurant via email and asked whether I could send through some photos/videos in order to obtain a refund. Received a reply a couple days later confirming that they'd forwarded my email to their supplier and that a representative would contact me. It is now 24/04/24 and I have received no contact from the restaurant staff or their supplier. I will say that their food was nice and the waitress who provided table service was lovely, however I would not recommend purchasing any teas from their shop. The freshness and quality control of the teas they are selling is questionable, considering that the gift set had been sat on the shelf long enough for bugs to multiply and nobody had checked to ensure it was still good to sell.

I have been here several times and enjoyed being here every time. I prefer the normal menu options as opposed to the hi tea here. The food here is very interesting and many good options. Western with Asian styles throughout so a very good mix. The bottomless tea is definitely worth trying as they have so many different types of teas to choose from. I came with another 3 friends so the 4 of us had two teapots going at a time. We got to taste so many different delicious teas which are also available to purchase to take home and brew yourself or for gifts. Please be mindful that only the loose teas are included for this bottomless option and you will have to pay extra for the blossom teas. But worth a try with a group so why not!! In the warmer months it is nice to sit out in the back garden where there is a water feature and some fish and nice decorations.

Visited 169 Whatley Cresent, Chapels on Whatley Cafe at 2pm on Saturday 10th August. We previously booked Chapels on Whatley for my Birthday High Tea. We paid in full for four people on booking as that is procedure. We also confirmed with them that a 5th person would be coming but doesn't like high tea so will order off the menu. They said that will be fine. The table was set for five people. When we arrived the 5th person ordered mi goreng. He was then told by a Male waiter that the menu was changed 3 weeks prior and that it is no longer available. He didn't fancy anything else off the menu so ordered the 2 hour bottomless tea. This was then paid for. So all food and drink on the table was paid in full for. We recieved hard scones that were quite inedible and no one wanted. So he tried half of one. He did not have anything else and then started his cup of tea. We then were approached by a man who acted in a threatening manner. Later he mentioned he was the owner of the business. He was very abusive from the start and pointing his finger in our faces. He said we only paid for four people. We said the fifth has ordered tea and he said well he can get down the back of the place to drink it, he can't sit with us. When we tried to explain we were there for a Birthday he said he didn't care and that we were awful. He then said "just get out, get out now, leave or I'm calling the police!". We have video evidence of this. He then went over to another table and spoke aggressively about us to them. He then stormed off and came back with his phone and demanded we speak to the police officer on the phone. We explained everything was paid for, for a 2 hour sitting and had offered to pay extra for the scene even though technically we had already paid for it but the manager just wanted to abuse us. The police said it was a civil matter but he was asking for a patrol car to be sent down. What an awful experience, completely ruined my Birthday. Uneccesary, when cold have been dealt with in a polite way. We purchased all food and drink there and did nothing wrong. Have never been spoken to and had my family members spoken to in such a disgusting way in my life. What a horrible man and establishment. There are other reviews over the past year on tripadvisor recording his abusive behaviour so this is not an isolated incident. My Birthday is ruined and I am upset and angered of the treatment of my family members over a scone we offered to pay for even though it was already purchased! Four people booked and paid for high tea and the fifth ordered and paid for bottomless tea from the menu as previously discussed. We didn't even stay for the 2 hour sitting paid for as we were being abused by Keith...

I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they would like to be verbally abused by the owner Keith. We went here to enjoy a birthday high tea that was booked for 5, 4 for the high tea and an additional guest who just wanted to drink tea and order some food off the menu to join us on this occasion. Our 5th guest tried one of the scones that was hard as rock as we had not thought the scones we were given were not up to standard. The manager then came over and told I'd that out 5th guest had to leave the establishment as he was not having the high tea. We told keith we would pay for the scones even though we had already paid for all the food presented to us so it's not like we had anything extra. Keith was abusive towards us from the get go and told us to leave and didn't care that he was ruining our celebrations. He then threatend to call the police on us and told us we had to leave. He then left our table and went over to another table to talk about us and complain to them like we had stolen from him. We had only given our extra guest one of our scones that we had paid for. He raised his voice and yelled at us all on the table and wanted us to leave. Keith later returned and handed our 5rh guest his phone which was the police on the phone.

The service here was disgusting and we had offered to compensate him for letting another guest eat one of the scones that was ours. Keith is clearly not in the right state of mind to run a business. Keith does not know how to speak to his customers and reading other reviews people have had the same issues. I really hope he changes his attitude or step down as owner as he does not know how to speak to his customers at all. We all stayed calm and tried to ask him if we could do anything to allow our 5th guess to stay but he kept telling us he doesn't care and wants us to leave.

The worst customer service from an owner I have ever seen. I would never go here again and would not recommend anyone...

Attended lunch this afternoon with my son to try out the new menu as we hadn’t been in a while. Food was good but the service ,not so much. We ordered our food and the bottomless tea which we were advised meant we could try out the different varieties over a period of 1.5hr and pay $9.50 per person which was fine by me. There was no cutlery and napkins on the table and we had to go and get these from the other tables. Food and teas came and it was well presented but it appeared an extra rice had been added to our order yet the ordered meal already came with rice as side dish, so we told the chef we hadn’t ordered an extra rice but I later noticed after leaving that this was charged on the bill. As we were eating the “boss man” started walking around each and every table outside checking if everyone was ok snd somehow for reasons known to him, decided to just blank us out, didn’t even say a hello…I mean, we are black, but not invisible!!! Treat all your paying customers equally and they’ll feel valued and come back! As we liked the teas we were having , we asked for a fresh pot of each from one of the waitresses who asked if we wanted boiling water to which I said NO, and asked for fresh pots of same tea. We waited for what seemed to be 5 minutes then she came back and took the pots on our table then brought them back again. It appears she had gone and just added water as the tea was the weakest tea ever, thought I’d give her the benefit of the doubt so we gave it 5 minutes to steep but no! It was just the same, just the colour of milk in my cup. Frustrated I just got up and went to counter to settle the bill and told her we were paying for a pot of tea each as opposed to bottomless because the second pot she brought to us was just water with previously brewed leaves , to which she said she’d added new leaves???? Got my receipt and walked out very disappointed. I used to love this little place but not...
