This place is overrated, based on looking at other reviews here. We came here one morning for our anniversary breakfast and left a little disappointed as it didn't at all live up to the reviews. First I should say that the place wasn't bad, this is not one of "those" reviews. I just expected better based on the rating and the price.
We sat outside and found the tables very hard to use. Firstly, they are sitting on uneven pavers and weren't adjusted to sit level. Also the table top was loose to the point where it would spin and rock about. We moved tables, but found our new table exactly the same, so I spent our meal with my foot weighing down a table leg and my arm carefully weighing down the table top. I think that aged and mismatching furniture definitely add to the rustic appeal of a place, but it still needs to be functional and well-maintained, which this wasn't.
We didn't wait long for our meals, but there was a small mistake with my order and I felt the server starting to become argumentative when I asked them (politely) to correct it. Once they realised that they had in fact made the mistake, the server apologised and sent my meal back to the kitchen, but they were quite cold towards us after that.
The meal was good, but for the price I was expecting something brilliant. Although it is possible that the time spent correcting my order meant I didn't get that just-cooked freshness. Maybe it's normally better.
Coffee however is great. They do have a talented barista and a good roast. Cappucinno had a good thick head which stuck around for the whole of the drink. The coffee itself was smooth, flavoursome and quite mellow.
Overall it was okay. If I stopped here for breakfast on my way to work or for a coffee while walking the dog, I'd be happy enough. Don't bother if going out is a rare thing for you and you're looking for a good breakfast spot to spend time...
Read moreI usually have good reports but this time is a shocking food review and shocking service totally failure on both. I just wanted a toasted ham and cheese sandwich my partner wanted a fresh berry muffin and we both ordered coffee. Pretty simple right? Well sorry but the toasted ham and cheese sandwich came out with a fried egg on top (I cannot eat egg) I said I’m allergic and can’t eat egg can they please make another one. They said that’s how it comes, I explained again I am allergic and can’t eat egg, they took it away scraped the egg off and brought it back. I took two bites and I couldn’t continue it was really bad bread tasted moldy and I started getting a reaction from the egg so stopped eating it. Meanwhile my partner usually loves a muffin, he couldn’t even cut it with one hand that’s how stale it was. In the mean time we are still waiting for our coffee’s (just a heads up coffee and other beverages should be delivered first). So we waited still hungry because we can’t eat the food that was delivered and actually off. I went to ask for our money back as the coffee wasn’t even delivered and the food was definitely out of date. Total disgrace, the waiter informed me her boss says that because we ate the food (which we didn’t) they cannot refund my money. We’ll have fun with the health inspector, ACCC and my money will be coming back mate, your in Australia now businesses have rules you must follow. Was it really worth the review? Gold plate award for what it should be taken away from you, it must be fake or from another owner previously because this cafe...
