It isn't too hard to get to since it is just across the road from the Maylands train station. It is a fairly large shop with one side having the bakery and the other being a dining area. They also had a few seats outside. The first thing you see is the counter full of delicious looking baked goods, both savoury and sweet. There was a cupcake cabinet as well as a cake one and the counter was just chokka with pastries and cakes. They have a menu with other items on it too. I ordered at the counter and then found a seat. I grabbed a red velvet cake and iced chocolate to eat in. The indoor dining area was quite interesting, having an American diner feel with booths, old furniture, and photos and other paraphernalia hanging on the wall. The ice chocolate required a bit of mixing otherwise it was just milk. There was a bit too much ice in there for my liking. The red velvet cake was delicious, moist, sweet and tasty. The cream on the side was also nice with the sweet frosting. I also grabbed a few things to take back home, a salted caramel tart, a chocolate cupcake and an almond croissant. They were all quite tasty as well. There were quite a few parents with children when I was there so I'm most likely not the only person who thinks its a great place for an afternoon snack.

This place has a lovely upbeat and retro atmosphere. The vintage furniture and crockery are charming. Background music at a more acceptable level than mamy places so cinversatiin is still easy. Great for lunch or tea, it also has many lovely savoury offerings both modern and classic. And if you enjoy them as much as I did, they will also cater... the board lists a stand filled with cupckes for hire at very reasonable rates.. yum! Their chocolate beetroot cake is very interesting and certainly pleasing to the palate! They also standout with an exquisite chocolate rasberry cake that is also GFDF..(So many places only have sime boring teacake for the gluten-dairy challenged!)..so 6 stars if i could! They also offer quite a range of GF DF and a combination of other needs such as egg free and vegan options. Range of milk alternatives. Staff were happy to check ingredients. The service was friendly efficient and no frills even at their busiest times. Will definitely come back again

Love love love. All to often I go to a coffee shop/cafe/patisserie and not have a great piece of cake. This has never happened at Sherbet. Opposite the railway line in Maylands, this busy little cafe has an amazing selection of cakes to choose from. I’m pretty sure the high volume of customers ensures that there is always fresh cake available. You order at the counter and it’s delivered to you table. We had the rhubarb tart and the red velvet cake. They did warm up the tart which we didn’t ask for but it was delicious once it cooled down. The red velvet was fantastic. It was moist and the icing was soft and tasty. It’s a pretty big piece so you might want to share - or not. I ordered a pot of tea for tea and it arrived in a vintage teapot which gave multiple cups of tea. Perfect. Parking can be a challenge depending on the time you arrive.

This place is fun. There are so many delicious cakes on offer. Everything from muffins, vanilla slices, eclairs, croissants and pretty cupcakes. 🍰🥧🧁 A great range of sandwiches from beef, chicken and vegetarian. The vegetarian flatbread is amazing. I had it toasted and it was so delicious. I will be buying this again. 🥰 The almond croissant was delicious and a nice add on to my cold brew. ☕️ Such friendly and welcoming service from all the staff. The 1950's vibe is fun and fresh. The tables and decore will make you feel like you have stepped back in time. Awesome! 👌 👏 Will be back to try the strawberry eclairs and some more of those delicious cakes. 😊

Beautiful cakes, deserts and savoury items. Prices are very reasonable. You can either have cakes by the slice or as a whole cake. Lots of choices including muffins, pastries, cupcakes, layer cakes and more. Savoury items include delicious sausage rolls, spinach and feta tarts with flaky pastry, sandwiches and rolls plus a range of mixed salads.coffees and teas are good too. There is plenty of seating inside and outside with inside also having seating booths. Service is prompt and friendly.

I'm sure this place will go from strength to strength. Easily tempted by their range of unique cupcakes, we also enjoyed our fabulous lunch and coffee. We had a post Christmas shopping relaxed conversation in their too cute for words booths. A combination of retro decor, modern menu and American diner style. Incidentally their cupcakes would better be described as adventurous desserts not constrained by the descriptor: cupcake.
