8848 Momo House – A Himalayan Feast Right Here in Melbourne! 🌄✨
If you’re craving something truly unique, vibrant, and bursting with flavour, 8848 Momo House is your next must-visit destination. Nestled in the heart of Melbourne, this gem of a Nepalese restaurant delivers an unforgettable culinary experience inspired by the tastes of the Himalayas.
Let’s start with what they do best—MOMOS. These are not your average dumplings. 8848 takes the humble momo and transforms it into pure magic. Whether you go for the Steamed, Deep Fried, or the utterly addictive Kothey Pan Fried, each bite is soft, juicy, and packed with flavour. The Buffalo Momos are a standout, a rare find in Melbourne, and a bold nod to traditional Nepalese cuisine.
The Momo Platters are perfect for sharing and make for an incredible introduction to their range—especially the King of Happy Times Platter which brings together steamed, chilli, kothey, and fried momos in glorious harmony. Add the 8848 Tomato Tangy Sauce or the Himalayan Mint Sauce and your tastebuds will thank you.
Beyond dumplings, the signature dishes are where East meets West with exciting flair. Try the K’Man Doo Sizzzzler for a dramatic entrance (literally sizzling), or the Wow The Bao Sliders—a delicious Nepalese twist on the modern bao trend. The Butter Chicken Momos deserve a special mention too—an absolute genius fusion of Australia’s favourite curry with Nepal’s iconic dumpling.
And if you’re hungry for more, the 8848 Khaja Platter is a Himalayan feast on a plate—Chura, Sekuwa, Aloo Tama, pickles, salad, and more… authentic, colourful, and deeply satisfying. Want a flavour boost? Add the Buff Sukuti—a Nepalese-style dried meat delicacy that hits all the right notes.
Everything is served with love, a dash of spice, and a whole lot of character. The staff are friendly, the vibes are lively, and the food is simply top-tier.
Final verdict: 8848 Momo House is more than a restaurant—it’s a Nepalese celebration. Whether you’re a momo-lover, a fusion foodie, or just looking to try something unforgettable, this place is an absolute winner.

Read moreI'm only putting in one star because of the live music and how loud it was. And i am saying this as someone who loves live music and the atmosphere it creates but only if it's done correctly and this wasn't it.
Live music is supposed to add to the atmosphere and the vibe. No offence to the talented and lovely lady who performed there yesterday. She is clearly very talented and this has nothing to do with her. It was mostly the volume of the speakers. It felt like walking into the backstage of a concert. And also the drunk people dancing around and screaming did not help. I'm not sure if the ataffs there all have a RSA but it felt like none of then did. The staff clearly need training but it feels like there just isn't anyone qualified enough to do that. The live music stopped after a couple of songs and they started playing regular nepalese music. And honestly after that the vibes of the place became so much better.
The food here is honestly one of the best and i must give credit where its due. The items in the menu are all nice and innovative. I will say that the menu and the online ordering system is extremely cluttered and not visually appealing. As a design student, speaking from a user's perspective, the menu is too vast and easy to get lost in. It needs to be simplified and made easier to navigate.
I will add just one more thing. This place reminds me of the old facebook meme or should i say life quote, of a picture of multiple forks with one of them completely bent and below the image it says, "just cause you're different doesn't mean that you're useful". I know it's a weird thing to say but i hope my point gets accross.
I love the concepts and ideas that this place has and honestly love most of it. I will definately come back here for more but i just hope that the owner or manager sees this and realizes the things that need to be changed to make this one of the best Nepalese restaurant...
Read moreThe Nepalese chicken curry lacked basic seasoning like salt, making it bland and unappetizing. Instead, it was overloaded with turmeric, which dominated the dish and overpowered any other flavors. It seemed like a packet of turmeric fell into the curry pot, indicating a lack of attention to detail and proper quality control in the kitchen. Midway through our meal, a member of the front staff rudely interrupted us, asking us to change tables to accommodate new customers. This disrupted our dining experience and showed a lack of consideration for existing patrons. Asking customers to move mid-meal to accommodate others reflects a lack of professionalism and customer service etiquette. Customers should be able to enjoy their meal without unnecessary disruptions. The staff's request to merge tables while we were still eating displayed a complete disregard for our dining experience and comfort. It was not only disruptive but also showed a lack of empathy towards customers. Such disruptive and inconsiderate behavior indicates poor management and a lack of proper training for the staff. Restaurant management should prioritize the comfort and satisfaction of all customers, not just new ones. The combination of flavorless food, disruptive service, and inconsiderate behavior culminated in a highly unsatisfactory dining experience. This visit left a lasting negative impression, and I would not recommend this...
