I sure hope this is just starting jitters, as our experience was below average.
Let's start with positives - the interior is softly lit yet warm, giving a cosy vibe. It's a volume appropriate place too with the music. The olive & fig tapenade was great, and the lemon sauce prawns were packed with flavour.
Unfortunately, it drops down dramatically from there, starting with the service. There seemed to be confusion on who was meant to be in what area, and the individual who was likely meant to be assigned to our table area struggled to define the menu. It got a bit weirder when another person (maybe the restauranter?!) jumped in over this staff member to explain the menu, creating this odd moment at the table. That can be forgiven but it felt like the staff weren't trusted or enabled to explain the menu.
Our entree was the aforementioned tapenade, saganaki and calamari. The saganaki was good, though the tomato sauce was overly acidic. The calamari was overcooked. I'm unsure if they had used frozen calamari in this instance but based on the texture it seemed as such.
Mains were the prawns, 'lamb of the gods' and the lettuce in tahini dressing. I will say again the lemon sauce prawns were a standout, and genuinely if we had just that this may be different. The lettuce was okay - it needed more tahini. The lamb, while having a nice spice rub at the top, was just...eh. Nothing was overly exciting about it, and I wouldn't be racing to a temple afterwards.
Again, it was maybe an average night but it wasn't exactly the 'contemporary' lens on Greek food...

As a couple enjoying a date night, we opted for the three-course set menu, and we were blown away! The starter, featuring fig and olive tapenade with hot, crispy bread, baked anthotiro cheese, sour cherry and caper relish, and stuffed eggplant, was a delightful introduction that set the stage for what was to come.
For the main course, the lamb was simply divine, cooked to perfection and beautifully complemented by creamy yogurt. Each bite was a delight!
We couldn’t resist the indulgent plate of Greek desserts to finish, paired with a cup of Melbourne Magic that was just right.

His attentiveness and elegant manner of hosting added such a personal touch to the evening it felt less like dining out and more like being welcomed into a Greek home.
