I sure hope this is just starting jitters, as our experience was below average.

Let's start with positives - the interior is softly lit yet warm, giving a cosy vibe. It's a volume appropriate place too with the music. The olive & fig tapenade was great, and the lemon sauce prawns were packed with flavour.

Unfortunately, it drops down dramatically from there, starting with the service. There seemed to be confusion on who was meant to be in what area, and the individual who was likely meant to be assigned to our table area struggled to define the menu. It got a bit weirder when another person (maybe the restauranter?!) jumped in over this staff member to explain the menu, creating this odd moment at the table. That can be forgiven but it felt like the staff weren't trusted or enabled to explain the menu.

Our entree was the aforementioned tapenade, saganaki and calamari. The saganaki was good, though the tomato sauce was overly acidic. The calamari was overcooked. I'm unsure if they had used frozen calamari in this instance but based on the texture it seemed as such.

Mains were the prawns, 'lamb of the gods' and the lettuce in tahini dressing. I will say again the lemon sauce prawns were a standout, and genuinely if we had just that this may be different. The lettuce was okay - it needed more tahini. The lamb, while having a nice spice rub at the top, was just...eh. Nothing was overly exciting about it, and I wouldn't be racing to a temple afterwards.

Again, it was maybe an average night but it wasn't exactly the 'contemporary' lens on Greek food...

If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Aeglis in South Melbourne is a must-visit! This charming new Greek restaurant has truly impressed us with its delectable food and warm ambiance.

As a couple enjoying a date night, we opted for the three-course set menu, and we were blown away! The starter, featuring fig and olive tapenade with hot, crispy bread, baked anthotiro cheese, sour cherry and caper relish, and stuffed eggplant, was a delightful introduction that set the stage for what was to come.

For the main course, the lamb was simply divine, cooked to perfection and beautifully complemented by creamy yogurt. Each bite was a delight!

We couldn’t resist the indulgent plate of Greek desserts to finish, paired with a cup of Melbourne Magic that was just right.

In just five weeks, Aeglis has already established itself as a winner in our books. Highly recommend this gem for anyone craving authentic Greek flavors in a...

Aegli a Taste of Greece! Just visited Aegli, a newly opened Greek restaurant, and I couldn’t be more impressed. From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting a perfect blend of elegance and comfort that instantly made us feel at home.

The food was absolutely amazing every dish packed with authentic Greek flavours and clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. You can really taste the love and tradition in every bite.

What truly made the experience stand out was the hospitality. The owner, Gianni, personally welcomed and served us with genuine warmth and grace. His attentiveness and elegant manner of hosting added such a personal touch to the evening it felt less like dining out and more like being welcomed into a Greek home.

Aegli is a true gem. Whether you're looking for an intimate dinner or a memorable night out, this place delivers on all fronts. Can't...

Melbourne is widely known as the second biggest Greek city and has in general a vast array of really good Greek restaurants. Aegli serves up a more modern style menu, but is well worth a test for a night out. The 3 and 4 courses set menu offers a great selection and variety of dishes to choose from and is easy to share amongst friends and family!! The dishes are very well balanced and prepared and tasty. Service is friendly and overall atmosphere very nice with a good simple wine list and a few interesting beers and cocktails!! Located in South Melbourne parking was fine as after 6 PM it’s free. The restaurant has a lovely area for a larger family celebration or in the main dining room for a smaller affair!! Enjoy and I shall for sure return!! Cheers

A brand new fine dining Greek restaurant that left us really impressed. The restaurant owner and chef Ioannis, already has another restaurant called Sowl. Again his attention to the detail of the dishes and service are just next level. All the dishes had fantastic balanced flavors with high quality ingredients and pleasingly, most of the menu is very original, it is not just another Greek restaurant. The Hilopites lobster and the Yiouvetsi prawns were simply outstanding. The table service was also excellent from everyone who served us. This is an absolute must go restaurant in my opinion.

One word - delicious! Came here for my birthday dinner tonight and I'm so glad we came here tonight. Everything from the ambience to the service and to the food was immaculate. I was greeted by chef/owner upon entry. He was so lovely, and he comes around to the tables to check in and explain what had been served. Oh, and the sour cherry mojito mocktail - YUM. I'm still thinking about the hot spelt bread and taramasalata dip 🤤 This place is definitely what was promised - hellenic refined. I've always loved Greek cuisine and this place triumphs. Can't wait to be back!
