First and foremost I want to specify I have been a customer here for years. I have personally come on countless occasions for their dumplings and other dishes and recommended them many times to family, friends and colleagues. That being said my family and I attended mid last week for a celebratory dinner and ordered our usual; Char kway teow, chilli fried tofu, vegetarian rice and deep fried eggplant. For drinks we had: mango smoothie, angies garden cocktail, and the star of the night (sarcasm) an iced tea.
We received the drinks first and all was going well, when the food came I was asked by a rather tall male waiter if I was enjoying my drink which he promptly snickered at and walked away laughing, I was left wondering what that was about and proceeded with my meal (that being said the tea tasted like cold English breakfast NOT black tea as stated on the menu but I'm not one to complain).
Char kway teow: Usually the star of the dinner for myself but I was left dissatisfied with how bland it was, it tasted like it was only seasoned with soy sauce and the beef was dry and rubbery with no option to add seafood aswel! A far cry from what was previously served and worse than alternatives in taste and price located near scoresby woolworths (highly recommend)
rice: bland. Simple as that. Can't call it fried as it only seemed to be just out of the rice cooker.
Tofu: usually was my families favourite as there wouldn't be any left at the end but the sauce used must have been changed out for a store bought sweet chilli and not the usual. Used to be crisp on the outside and soft inside but was chewy this time around.
Eggplant: not too bad, crispy, flavourful but quite oily which isn't a deal breaker.
After eating what we felt comfortable with considering the snickering going on behind us from the staff I asked for a container for leftovers from a waitress who was lovely, until she grabbed the container and spoke with the tall gentleman previously mentioned and handed me the container once again snickering.
For what used to be a lovely family friendly restaurant I was left feeling confused, bullied and all round dissatisfied which is why I won't be returning. Even after spending nearly $5000 over the last 5 years on dinners for pretty much every occasion you...

FOOD POISONING 🤢 First time dining in with my family of 6 ( 2 adults 4 children ( 6/01/2022 @ 7.30pm, waiter could have been more inviting had no exppression on his face, he didn't even care to acknowledge a 2 yr old thanking him for our seats and on our way out. Ordered 2 meat combination on rice (BBQ pork/roast pork for my 2 kids, $17.80 for a massive serving of rice and little meat, rip off, we have been to other places and have payed less and still get a decent serving of meat!! pan fried dumpling came after all our meals were pretty much eaten, we had to go ask them what the hold up was only to be told, there had been a mix up of orders with the take away orders ( yet no one seemed to come and tell us there was a delay) had to ask for a takeaway container to take them home as we had pretty much lost our appetite by then. Lychee ice drink was a disappointment, it was literally a huge class of cold water, half of it full of ice, massive bunch of mint and simply 2 small lychees, may as well call it mint ice drink. Ok now for the finale, the special omelette fried rice which I ordered for myself and my 1 year has given us food posioning, I am sitting here writing this as my 1 year old has been vomiting non stop since an hr after eating most of it, I have vomited multiple times and feeling nausea with diarrhea. My other kids are fine which implies it was something in this special omelette fried rice as it did contain loads of shrimps. Is anyone else experiencing this also? I saw a table next to us order the same meal.
Will be taking this further with them tomorrow as I am extremely disappointed, for our first dinning expereince with our 4 kids , (as I just had baby number 4 , 3 weeks ago) you have Not only ripped us off but have made us sick.
I will never return and have already chucked out the take away dumplings I brought...
Read moreI’m on a quest to find the place that serves the best Char Keow Teow. Angies bar comes close.
Located in the bustling Knox Ozone – watching the chefs make the dumplings is truly one of life’s simple pleasures. And if you can, I highly recommend sitting outdoors – even when it’s cold so that you can enjoy the cooking show.
The venue is quite nice and the internal decor really catches your eye.
The service we had was a little slow, but then again, I also noticed that they were inundated with customers. Given that all their menu had the picture of the dish with the name, ensured you were hungry for the meal you had ordered.
When it comes to the food, my quest for the Char Keow Teow still continues. Angie’s Dumpling Bar entrant was solid, but lacked the necessary spice that I am used to. I also had with beef – an option that is often not available when you do ask for Char Keow Teow: you’re given what you’re given.
The fried dumplings were nice – and so so juicy. I think my friend and I ended losing most of it’s delicious contents over the table instead of our mouths – hahaha.
The biggest drawback of the food was that it was served so hot, that I scalded my mouth from eating it. Matched with how delayed the food was from the kitchen – the hunger easily outweighed the pain of the heat. So please consider this before you eat here.
The cost wasn’t exhorbitant, but I have noticed that since Westfield has taken over Knox, prices for eating out in general have gone...
