Bistra is a delightful spot for a relaxed yet delicious dining experience. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance is welcoming and comfortable, making it an ideal place to unwind and enjoy a good dinner.

The meal kicked off with the prawns, which were simply delectable and the highlight of the evening. Cooked to perfection, they were tender and juicy, with a well-balanced seasoning that brought out their natural flavours without overwhelming them. They had the perfect amount of heat for me, providing a subtle kick that elevated the dish without overpowering it. A pro tip: save some bread for the sauce that accompanies the prawns—it’s so delicious that you won't want to leave any behind. Better yet order more bread.

The snapper was another delightful dish. The fish was moist and flaky with a delightful crispy skin, and the accompanying sauce was light and flavourful, complementing the fish beautifully. The sides were simple but well-prepared, allowing the snapper to shine.

The service was exceptional. The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, ensuring that everything was to our liking without being intrusive. Their hospitality added to the overall enjoyment of the meal, making it a great place for a casual dinner with friends or family.

Well, Bistra offers a fantastic dining experience with a focus on fresh, well-prepared dishes. The prawns are a standout dish that is sure to please any diner. With its friendly service and relaxed ambiance, Bistra is a wonderful choice for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious meal in a...

What an incredible dining experience! From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were transported into a world of culinary delight. The ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening.

The star of the show was undoubtedly the steak. Cooked to absolute perfection, it was a masterpiece of tenderness and flavor. Each bite melted in my mouth, showcasing the chef's expertise in handling premium cuts of meat. The seasoning was spot-on, enhancing the natural flavors of the beef without overpowering it.

But before we even got to the main course, we were blown away by the entrees. The chef's creativity shone through in these inventive dishes that tantalized our taste buds. Each plate was a work of art, both visually stunning and incredibly delicious. The combination of flavors and textures was nothing short of extraordinary, leaving us eager to try everything on the menu.

The attentive and knowledgeable staff added to the overall experience, guiding us through the menu and ensuring our evening was flawless. Their passion for the food and commitment to excellent service was evident throughout our meal.

This restaurant has set a new standard for fine dining in our area. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an exceptional meal, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We'll definitely be back to explore more of their innovative menu and indulge in that perfectly cooked...

From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, the ambiance promised an exquisite dining experience, and it did not disappoint. Our evening began with a classic Negroni, expertly mixed and delightfully refreshing, setting a high bar for what was to come.

For starters, we indulged in the scallops, which were seared to perfection, offering a wonderful contrast of a golden crust with a tender, succulent interior. This dish was a delightful herald to the main course, which I had a scotch steak accompanied by the most amazing fries. My wife had the mussels. The steak was flawlessly cooked, juicy and rich in flavor, while the fries were crisp on the outside with a fluffy interior, seasoned to perfection.

A special mention must go to the in-house Sommelier, whose expertise in selecting the perfect wine to complement our meal enhanced our dining experience incredibly. The wine paired beautifully with both the delicate scallops and the robust steak, bridging the flavors with confidence.

Dessert was nothing short of spectacular—a heavenly assembly of cream puff, ice cream, and chocolate ganache. Each component was a testament to the chef's prowess in balancing textures and flavors to create a memorable finale to our meal.

Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere were impeccable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a meal that promises to be not just food, but an experience to remember.

Bistra is a very ‘cosy’ venue, a little bit tight, but the vibe more than makes up in that regard. Superb knowledge of wines, had an excellent savoury Chardonnay on recommendation from the sommelier. The service was mostly good, although I thought it was a miss to not mention starters were portioned as 3 for a party of 2, which is common at other restaurants as courtesy. Onto the food - again, mostly good without being standout. The bad: - A big disappointment for me were the shelled tiger prawns which had not been deveined (yuck!). - Mussels extremely overpriced at $42, also very heavy on the mustard which overpowered entire dish. The good: - chicken liver pate was perfectly executed. I enjoyed the flavours of the tiger prawns and scallops were cooked well. - stand out dish of the night was the mushroom and ricotta agnolotti - I could drink a litre of that chicken jus! - choc mousse was light and airy, pairing perfectly with cherries. Those sable biscuits were not great though and could be left off the dish imo The mid: - Lamb rump was a solid dish without blowing your mind. All in all though, I enjoyed my experience at Bistra. Lovely vibe & wines and I did enjoy the dishes overall.

Bistra is a little local restaurant with charming ambience - cosy, a little too crowded, convivial. Many of the staff are charming and quick. The food: Heirloom zucchini and squacquerone entree was over vinegared and boring to eat. My eye fillet, though perfectly cooked, was not particularly tender. It came with an oversalted ‘green sauce’ that might have otherwise been pleasant. Pommes frites were delivered hot but not moreish. The cabbage side dish covered in breadcrumbs was frankly unpleasant. My partner’s French onion soup was unremarkable apart from being served at fearsome temperature. My friend’s entree was roesti with trout roe - a large quantity of roesti with a small dollop of roe meant a thin veneer of roe & creme fraiche on each. I don’t understand their thinking. Four people, not one delightful dish. The wine list was competent. No interesting cocktails, however the French viognier we ordered at the start was very pleasant. Overall, disappointing. We won’t return to Bistra.
