I never waste my time leaving bad reviews, but unfortunately I was SO appalled at the overall experience of this restaurant I feel compelled to. I took my mum here and she ordered the entree dim sims- Which were 3 tiny dried up leathery balls that cost $12? They were like the frozen type you literally get from the supermarket only worse as the overcooked them. And charge $12. Obviously not a lot of money, but when it's the same quality as a food court that charge $3 for the same thing, it's just not on. Then there was the Cantonese Duck for main. Now I understand duck is renowned for having minimal meat compared to other poultry but this was ridiculous. We both got about 4 mouthfuls before it was gone and all that was left were bones. If you like to eat, I don't recommend ordering this dish. Then the absolute icing on the cake- We ordered the large mixed steamed Chinese broccoli and bok choy. This came out on a small plate and was almost $30???? For some steamed broccoli??? Come on guys, I know it's Brighton but that's just offensive! I have NO problem paying any price if the food and service is memorable, but after spend $160 and the 2 of us walking away hungry... That's NOT ok, hence...
Read moreDined with a friend, hoping to share a bottle of exceptional red wine. Booked over the phone, and was told BYO wine only. The lady on the phone said nothing about corkage.
When we sat down, the male waiter told us that corkage was $18 per bottle, which although we did not expect, we were prepared to pay. We asked for burgundy glasses for our wine to replace standard cheap wine glasses already at the table, which the waiter refused to give to us, saying that it is only for the wine we buy at the restaurant. What were we paying the corkage for?
Then we asked to decant our 14yo bottle of Syrah, to which the waiter replied that it would cost us another $10 for the decanter, because they would have to wash it! When we pointed out that our wine is old and is a special bottle that we wanted to share rather than a cheap bottle of wine, he replied that his wines were even more expensive. We almost walked out. It was insulting to the least.
Food is good, but not exceptional, nothing special as far as Asian cuisine goes. Prices are high for the...
Read morePlaced a takeaway order comprising four dishes for the family Saturday evening. Requested a fifth dish for our child who wanted a large serve of just soft egg noodles in oyster sauce. Was told that this could not be accommodated. Could not comprehend why. First time in my life that a Chinese restaurant has refused such a simple request. Then asked for one serve of Chicken Chow Mein, which is essentially chicken and vegetables resting on top of soft noodles cooked in oyster sauce, but no chicken and no vegetables. This would have achieved the same outcome i.e., a serve of soft egg noodles in oyster sauce. Happy to pay the full price for the dish. Was once again told this could not be accommodated either as the Chef did not permit any alterations. Needless to say, our daughter was most upset her simple request would not be accommodated. A regrettable and unpleasant experience from a “hospitality” business. Please consider the unwillingness of this business to accommodate simple requests and changes before giving them...
