Well since moving to the area I’ve certainly changed my opinion on The Deck! Admittedly it’s been nearly five years between visits (and it’s clearly withstood the test of time in a competitive hospitality market that has endured multiple years of Melbourne lockdown). I had my baby shower in the Ivy function room and was thrilled with the accomodating service. Staff were flexible in allowing me to shuffle numbers all the way until the day before the event and reallocate funds into the drinks tab as I lost attendees due to illness. They even decorated the tables which I hadn’t expected (as we arrived toting our own flowers!) and thoughtfully saved me some cake for a takeaway box. They almost forget the fruit platters I had ordered but when reminded they came out relatively swiftly. Food wise I thoroughly enjoyed the ricotta lamb shoulder gnocchi and would definitely order that should I return the restaurant. Definitely recommend the venue in terms of a function space other than a few minor things, firstly the lighting isn’t amazing for photos given there are no windows and secondly I would have expected that when we chose five entree items those with dietary requirements would have been given alternates for the ones they couldn’t eat. Other than that a really perfect event Original cafe A filler cafe in my opinion. Food meh, interior meh, service meh nothing that would draw me back especially given the half an hour drive. The lack of wow factor may be more palatable to locals but I just found it lacking in flavour overall. I enjoyed the refresher juice with yummy watermelon and pineapple and I do appreciate the availability of healthy choices on the menu (clearly catering to the Brighton set) but at $8.50 for the juice and $25 for a paleo breakfast you'd be paying $67 for breakfast for two and that's without a coffee. Maybe that's acceptable bayside but it's not to the rest of the Melbourne population

I used to go to The Deck when it first opened, a long, long time ago, it was very dark and moody but now completely different, so light and airy with white walls, light coloured furniture and pops of greenery. Originally we were seated outside but after feeling one side of my face being burnt, because a very sunny day, we came inside. They have lots of seating inside and out on the deck (funny that) and on the street but when multiple people have to move inside its probably time to pull the shades down. We had coffees (flat white and decaf soy latte) while husband had big breakfast and I had avocado smash with side of mushrooms. Avocado came with obligatory poached egg which husband had as I can't stand eggs. $63 which is pretty steep for 2 coffees and 2 breakfasts (includes additional $5 for mushrooms, $1 for soymilk and .50c for decaf). They also have a large function room out the back which from reviews I've read, seems to be very popular. So yes really nice Cafe, great food and environment but of the 100 I've gone too, definitely one of the priciest.

A great local cafe and bar right in the heart of Brighton, and my favourite brunch spot. With warm decor that offers classic meals for breakfast and lunch, and free coffee with every order. Open everyday with a good selection of local food and drinks for all tastes. Food is always tasty, juicy, and delicious and very generous in size and reasonably priced. Suggest you try their favourites like the Eggs Benny or the Toasted Chicken Focaccia for an out of this World dining experience. Everything is always fresh and served quickly, and the staff are welcoming, friendly and professional too. Indoor and outdoor seating is very comfortable for couples or families and the restaurant is always very clean, with plenty of free street parking. Very Highly recommended 👏👍😊

Great staff, food and venue! We recently had our sons first birthday party in the Ivy Room at The Deck and we were so happy with how everything went. Special mention to the function coordinator Sam Birtwell who went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. Sam is so professional to deal with and I would do anything for her to plan all my future events! She made the planning stress free and was so quick in responding to any questions I had. Highly highly recommend Sam and The Deck as a venue.

I've eaten here on and off through the years. Today was good. My poke bowl was delicious but could have been more generous. The avo smash was fresh and tasty. The steak sandwich was enjoyable. Service was average somehow my mums meal was forgotten or they were confused. So it didn't come and they apologised and bought it later. So that was disappointing. I will go back as I enjoyed the food. There is a large choice with the menu as well.
