Well since moving to the area I’ve certainly changed my opinion on The Deck! Admittedly it’s been nearly five years between visits (and it’s clearly withstood the test of time in a competitive hospitality market that has endured multiple years of Melbourne lockdown). I had my baby shower in the Ivy function room and was thrilled with the accomodating service.

Staff were flexible in allowing me to shuffle numbers all the way until the day before the event and reallocate funds into the drinks tab as I lost attendees due to illness. They even decorated the tables which I hadn’t expected (as we arrived toting our own flowers!) and thoughtfully saved me some cake for a takeaway box.

They almost forget the fruit platters I had ordered but when reminded they came out relatively swiftly. Food wise I thoroughly enjoyed the ricotta lamb shoulder gnocchi and would definitely order that should I return the restaurant. Definitely recommend the venue in terms of a function space other than a few minor things, firstly the lighting isn’t amazing for photos given there are no windows and secondly I would have expected that when we chose five entree items those with dietary requirements would have been given alternates for the ones they couldn’t eat. Other than that a really perfect event

Original cafe A filler cafe in my opinion. Food meh, interior meh, service meh nothing that would draw me back especially given the half an hour drive. The lack of wow factor may be more palatable to locals but I just found it lacking in flavour overall.

I enjoyed the refresher juice with yummy watermelon and pineapple and I do appreciate the availability of healthy choices on the menu (clearly catering to the Brighton set) but at $8.50 for the juice and $25 for a paleo breakfast you'd be paying $67 for breakfast for two and that's without a coffee. Maybe that's acceptable bayside but it's not to the rest of the...

I would prefer to be giving no stars, but unfortunately that is not an option. Firstly when my partner and I walked in hoping to have a lovely lunch, we were greeted by a gentlemen who was yelling from the bar to make sure we heard, when there was a girl who was organising things at the door computer, I believe she was just about to say hello. By the time we reached the table it was anout 2.30. The gentleman brought us menus and water, we let him know that we were unsure of what drinks we wanted so he said he would be back in a couple of minutes, which was extremely fine. That was the last we saw of him. We then asked the lady from the door if the kitchen was still open and she said "yes you have plenty of time, it shuts at 3." So we thought awesome! Still time to get food. That was the last we heard of the girl. It got to 3 oclock and no one had served us or even acknowledged us, so we left. The gentlemen had the decency to open the door for us and say "thanks guys" on our way out.

It is quit funny that management only replies to good reviews about themselves. Maybe they should consider why people are review with low stars, not for only their benefit but also the clientele.

There was no effort to come see how we were going, seemed as though they were quite happy to wait until the kitchen closed just so they didnt have to serve, and considering there was only about 4 other couples in there who had all already finished, I was extremely dissapointed in the service offered by the staff. I will never be going again and never suggesting this place to any one else.

It is extremely slack on the workers and managers behalf to allow such poor...

Table service was non-existent and Food was below average. Waited 10 minutes before coffee order was taken, took 15 minutes to arrive at the table. Another 40 minutes passed before we had to ask if table service was offered or if we go up to the counter - the place wasn't amazingly busy and there were plenty of staff so not too sure what happened here.

I ordered the breakfast board, The bacon and chorizo were good, no complaints there but the meal fell off very quickly afterwards. Blistered Tomatoes were completely missing, Sautéed Spinach was just drowned and greasy spinach, 'Chilli Relish' was just some Old El Paso salsa in a small ceramic tub, Mushrooms were a little on the greasy side but overall okay, Smashed Avo was alright, the rosti - eh was more akin to an undercooked hashbrown, sourdough tasted stale, hard and flavourless, the poached eggs were next level, I was so excited to burst them and dig into some delicious poached eggs but what happened next was extremely lacklustre, like a wolf in sheep's clothing, I had to saw into what was an extremely overboiled egg that looked like a poached egg, the green/grey yolk was sulphuric in...

It's a spacious, slightly retro spot with great seating options: sunny tables out the front, a lovely deck, and a big, airy interior. It's always buzzing with a mix of couples and locals, giving it a really friendly and laid, back atmosphere. The food is outstanding. They take classic Aussie brunch and elevate it with clever flavour twists. We ordered: Creamy Prawn Linguine: Incredibly rich and creamy with a strong prawn flavour. The addition of sausage made it so moreish and satisfying. Steak Sandwich: A classic done right! The steak was noticeably thicker and better quality than average, and the chicken salt on the fries was a winner. The portions are huge! I was also thrilled to see a fantastic selection of gluten free desserts (the raspberry cheesecake and Oreo bites are a must-try) that are actually delicious and not overly sweet. A huge bonus is that they are licensed and open in the evening, making it a perfect spot for a drink near the beach. They also have a function room that can fit 150 people which is an amazing option for events! Highly recommend for a reliable, high quality brunch or a casual drink.
