I was very eager to have a dine-in experience after ordering the Pork Ragu Pappardelle for takeaway and LOVING IT!!! As soon as I walked through the front door I felt a palpable sense of warm and inviting energy. I sat at the bar for a moment to have a drink and a chat with the lovely staff member behind the bar who then escorted me through the dining area to the gorgeous couch in front of a big window that opens up to the street. I genuinely wish I had a bigger appetite on this occasion so I could have ordered AT LEAST one of everything on the menu, but I was only capable of consuming a snack. OH my GOODNESS do the Fried Cauliflower bites GO OFF! The sauce on the side was also so complimentary and a little bit spicy, they were so yum I absolutely DELETED the entire serving. I have since tried finding somewhere in QLD that does fried cauliflower as good but I simply cannot! It seems I’ll have to fly back to Melbourne very soon. To the lovely staff at Compass, I felt very catered to and cared for by everyone, particularly the gorgeous and friendly waitress that served me (brown hair with short fringe and an infectious smile), I am very grateful for all the love and care you put into the food and the service as well as creating such a beautiful atmosphere. 10/10 big yes, get ya...

Read moreAwesome! This place is THE 'Little Italian Restaurant' I've always ben looking for.
It's simple, honest food, served by a genuine small family business, in a great little location.
It's not particularly stylish though it has a nice atmosphere. The menu is pretty simple, the dishes aren't going to be in a 5 star restaurant, but everything is really tasty and prepared carefully, and everything is well priced!
For starters, we had a nice simple Neapolitan cheesy pizza - the crust and the pizza sauce were spectacular!
The pasta is cooked perfectly, and their pasta sauces are great.
We were in Melbourne on a short break (from Brisbane).. Glad we got taken to this place - If I was local, I'd be here all the time - a good feed with friends before going out for the evening!
I don't know what it is with all the poor reviews below, I see 'rude' mentioned occasionally: I think perhaps what people mistake for rudeness is just cultural misinterpretation and the result of being really busy.
Sure, these guys weren't all fake and welcoming like some diners expect. It's not 5-Star service... But when we did get yapping, they had a great sense of humor, and were a great genuine family.
If you go there with the right expectation, you'll have a great feed and...
