You will find Fritz Gelato at the entry of the food court in the South Melbourne Market. Italian style coffee, doughnuts and gelato - perfect trio. Everyone's favourite flavour can be found here, they have 31 to be exact, but if your flavour isn't there they encourage you to send them a message, and they will create it! They have ice cream and low-fat organic gelato to choose from. The only decisions needed is one, two or three scoops? Cone or a cup? Or to be even bolder, take some home in a tub? No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives are added. Over 70 of their flavours have won awards in Victoria or Australian competitions. Other locations - Prahran Market and Richmond. If you can't get to their venues, they deliver too! Recommendation - Two scoops consisting of sour cherry with pomegranate and zesty lemon [which won an award!] - I wish the scoops were larger! Always popular no matter the time of year - drop in for a coffee and doughnut or on a hot day a gelato - you won't be disappointed!

Overrated. They don’t provide any flavor tasting so I get Matcha and Pistachio Heaven because they have a post on wall mentioned these two are awarded. Matcha isn’t too bad yet it’s too sweet rather than the traditional tasting of pure Mactha. The most disappointing part is how salty the pistachio is! I am not sure which brand of pistachio paste they use nor who will enjoy a savory flavor kind of gelato. The texture wise, it is obvious the amount of glucose is huge. It is similar to Turkish ice cream in stead of ordinary gelato I like. Last but not least, 2 scoops charge for $9 they supposed to do better with the quality control. Both of 2 have ice in between. It doesn’t crystallize well enough. Ends of with wasting because it is not worthy to put them in my mouth anymore.

Fritz Gelato is a must-visit spot at South Melbourne Market! Their selection of flavors is impressive — from rich Chocolate Indulgence to fruity Mango Tango. I’ve tried so many, but my absolute favorites are the Coconut and Blood Orange. The texture is smooth, the sweetness is just right, and the coconut tastes incredibly fresh. The staff are friendly, the store is clean, and I love that they offer gluten-free, vegan, and low-fat options too. Definitely worth lining up for — I keep coming back every visit! #FritzGelato #SouthMelbourneMarket #GelatoLovers #GenaStar #MelbourneEats #CoconutGelato #BloodOrangeBliss

First gelateria I’ve ever been to that doesn’t offer tastings. Interesting business choice, given their high prices and unconventional flavours - I’m taking my business elsewhere, to a shop that actually has confidence in its product!

Edit in response to defensive owner reply (lol, always a good sign when owners have more time to spend arguing with their customers than actually serving them): I did stop to talk, but “We don’t do tastings” isn’t exactly much of a conversation starter. I had no trouble finding an another high quality gelateria that cared about making sure we liked what we were paying for, so no loss to us. Best of luck with your...
