Must come if you haven't tried or simply can't get enough of Polish food before. This was in 2018
Whenever I go for holiday, I am always the one doing the planning - meticulous, obsessive, kiasu... You name it, I probably admit it. But alas, I didn't plan my time to South Melbourne Market well.. I arrived there on Thursday morning not realising that it was not opened. In fact they are only opened on Wednesday, and Friday to Sunday.
As I didn't want the experience to dampen the spirit, and also because we had not eaten any breakfast yet.. we decided to look for nearby place to eat. Coincidentally this cafe was the nearest to where we were... And the fact that the exterior of the cafe was bright and colourful. So we just walked in and greeted by the ever affable and friendly Peter.
We didn't know what to order so Peter actually helped us to make up the minds. And luckily he did.. the meal was quite memorable. ◾Beans of Brittany - home made baked beans with polish sausages, bacon and ham ◾Baked Spanish eggs with tomato concasse, garlic, chorizo, and smoked paprika ◾Egg & bacon muffin ◾Pierogi - this is Polish traditional dumplings using organic homemade quark mashed potatoes, caramelised onions, lightly pickled coleslaw and crispy bacon
When I checked, I discovered that it has been changed to "Tipsy Village".. but Peter should still be there. If you haven't tried Polish food before, I suggest that you try this cafe, and especially their Pierogi. We spent quite some time to eat and also photoporn-ed... After that we drove to Brighton Beach nearby and then returned...

So many cafes around of here all crowded (weekend) But, many tables were available to sitting that time when we came in.
We ordered 2 coffee. 3pcs dumplings. Omelette. Shacsuka. Paid $66(Inc, weekend surcharged)
Coffee was watery with burn taste . When coffee was 70%left (Waitresses came 5 time to asked You finished? May I take?) that coffe served less than10mins that time. It was so annoying... Also,I haven't got food yet... Why they do that? May because too quite only the cafe that they wanna job to do something??
Food also disappointed.... omelette... Never seen that much thin like a crepe....and no ingredients in the omelette Just tiny greens....... And Shacsuka taste not fresh... Very heavy...2eggs in the very small bowl......
Me and partner vomited when we backed home. I don't know why that taste much disgusting or not hygienic... Very surprised we vomited sametime.
We felt waste of time and money. I never imagined to find that much awful Cafe the...
Read moreIt was a happy brunch time we had at Tipsy Village today. To start off, the staff there were friendly, spirited and fun. It's also a DOG FRIENDLY restaurant. I saw they put out a container for water for a customer's fur cuttie to drink.
We were too hungry, so just quickly ordered dishes we could understand at the first glance. Later, while sipping our drinks and waiting for our food to arrive, we finally had a good look at all the signs on the walls and discovered that they had Polish dumplings (pierogi)! Would love to go back and give those shiny dumplings a try😜
With drinks, I really appreciate it when restaurants present them right, ie. marshmallow and a piece of biscuit or chocolate with hot chocolate, and chai from a pot. Tipsy Village delivered my expectations really well and I like them for that!
As for food, I ordered Brekkie Melt and it met my expectation, so no surprise there. My baby's Baked Spanish Eggs thou, gave me a good surprise because of how tasty the sauce was.
We had a great time, good food and good drinks there. Will go back again and certainly recommend it...
