Inasal express:

I was just walking in the city and I found this place by chance. Having moved from Sydney I haven’t been able to find any good pinoy place that has any food.

Back in Sydney my go to was a place in Blacktown called Angels bbq.

But after trying the chicken and pork in two days as well as then Shanghai Lumpia - It literally feels like home.

But what caught me was the sweet yet familiar taste of leche flan drenched in a golden caramel syrup - the custard was firm not too sweet but just right in the sense of flavour. Was a delight to eat this:

And then finally Mango Float - I’m a sweets person that loves anything tropical considering I am a Polynesian and we eat heaps of tropical fruits. The mango float was a reminder of our island drink Otai - We normally have cabin bread mixed with the Otai, but this - the biscuit - Grahams biscuit it didn’t overtake the entire dish but it complimented well with the mango and jackfruit and ice cream it was a reminder of home back in Sydney.

Today Friday 2nd of August I tried their sticky rice and corn pudding - Corn pudding and cheese I felt was more amazing than the green sticky rice as I didn’t know what the topping was lol and yet I still managed to finish it all.

All in all - the Filipino bbq is A experience - I’m certain if the Filipino bbq joints are like back in Samoa with bbq joints open all hours, then this my friend - Inasal express have smashed this element right up to the authentic atmosphere / vibes / hospitality / and taste of their food. You don’t wanna miss out on this! You have to try their food! Promise you - you’ll come back like me three days...

Chicken inasal is spectacular, featuring incredibly juicy and tender meat cloaked in a flavourful charred skin. Meanwhile, the lechon sisig has some lean bits of pork, which I liked as it gave the dish more bite than other sisigs, while still retaining that fattiness; it glistens and that’s how you know it’s a good sisig! It comes with a whole yellow calamansi which was pretty big- SO necessary for this dish, to help with cutting through the fat!

We requested garlic rice, which incurred an additional charge, and I’m sure made a difference, but I do wish it had a bit more flavour to it.

The portions of meat were generous, and in the future I’d probably ask for extra rice and a takeaway container so I can eat half and save the rest for another day.

Most surprising was their BBQ flavoured chips which were so addictive that my partner and I have to get a large every single time we go. The best way I can describe the seasoning is that it’s almost cheesy with a sweetness and barbecue-esque smokiness and tanginess to it.

Be warned that because of its location, it’s not the most ideal place for dining in, but there are plenty of tables outside the restaurant to pick from. I’d even recommend going so far as near the sushi jiro as the seats there are far more comfortable than the bar stools nearer to the restaurant (they’re not that far, AND they usually provide you with a beeper thing so you don’t have to keep an eye on the restaurant...

🌟 "Authentic Filipino Flavors in Melbourne! Highly Recommend the Inasal Chicken and Crispy Pata!" 🌟

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic Filipino restaurant in Melbourne, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.

Now, let's talk about the food! The Inasal Chicken was simply outstanding. The flavors were authentic, and the chicken was perfectly grilled, juicy, and tender. The marinade had just the right balance of tanginess and smokiness, making every bite incredibly flavorful. It definitely reminded me of the traditional Inasal Chicken I've had back home.

And oh, the Crispy Pata! It was a true crispy pork delicacy that melted in my mouth. The skin was wonderfully crispy, while the meat remained succulent and flavorful. Each bite was a heavenly combination of textures and taste. It's a definite must-try for pork lovers!

Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving authentic Filipino cuisine in Melbourne. The accommodating staff, coupled with the mouthwatering Inasal Chicken and Crispy Pata, will surely leave you satisfied and craving for more. Don't miss out on this culinary gem!
