Juana Taco — Restaurant in Melbourne

Food is average enchiladas were super dry as they are very tight with sauce. Service was beyond terrible there were so many waiters and waitresses and all of them avoiding eye contact. We have to stand up to the bar every time we needed something basic like water or cutlery. Staff was very social between them but don’t seem to be wanting to work hard and they all try to talk behind the bar between each other rather than doing their job. The worse thing was the check as we got charged more for everything, talk to them & apparently was our fault as the prices have risen but their menus haven’t been updated. They make us feel like they were doing us a favour by charging us the price on the menu. Not sure if there is an institution where we can report that as it’s so wrong. Plus their attitude towards it was so rude. Also they were charging us for lots of extras we order but never got delivered. I booked in advanced specially during pandemic times that less people is supposed to be inside and all those restrictions didn’t matter to them, specially when it came to social distancing. A group that was seating outside decided they were cold so they just seat them on the table next to us, that table was supposed to be for 4 but they put 6 people in there and one of them keep hitting my friend with his elbow and bum. Waitress were the same whilst taking their order. Save your time and money there are heaps of better options for Mexican food in Melbourne. I’m Mexican and I can tell you that their food...

Food was amazing and I would give 5 stars for it. However, the waiting time is a way too long. We have been waiting for nearly an hour (for 6 tacos!) The reason I gave one star is because of the staff attitude. After 45mins of waiting, we asked the waitress if our order has been gone through. The waitress was so impolite and just told us the night was busy and "our order is being done right now". Meanwhile, one of our friend ordered one taco, and it came after 10mins - still no sight of ours... We checked our order again with another waitress, she then pointed at our friend's taco and replied it's because our friend only ordered one taco so it came earlier (get the maths?) We found this explanation so ridiculous but what disappointed us even more was their service and the attitude of the waitresses. Not saying that they need to apologise for the delay but I felt like it's because we ordered through their website and paid in advance (with sneaky prefilled tips) so they didn't care about customer service anymore. I believe every business would like to get more customer satisfaction no matter on food, price, environment or customer service. Everything was fine but because of the poor service, I will not return again. I can only hope this place will take the feedback serious because they have high standards for food, just the customer service can't live up to anywhere near...

After a couple of previous poor experiences, I decided to give Taco Tuesday a go at Juana Taco. Knowing walk ins are hardly ever accommodated I booked a table for two inside. I was Immediately shown our reserved table OUTSIDE. Oh well, it's a busy night I guess, however inside remained half empty for the duration of our visit. We were then explained that the Taco Tuesday special was only available if you selected all one type of Taco, otherwise it was full price. We opted for stuffed peppers 🌶 which were underwhelming to start with a lovely tap Pale ale and a smokey Margarita. We ordered the 6 Taco plate as apparently you can only order tacos in 3 or 6 lots. For a place called Juana Taco, it certainly discourages Taco consumption. We had the fish, chicken and pork tacos and they were ok. Not good enough to save from the pretentious and poor service and unfriendly atmosphere but ok. We also had a Taco chips and salsa with Guacamole which lacked spice. We were never offered sauces to add to anything. I saw them stacked on the counter as we left. Must have been for inside guests.

Overall I could only give 2 stars. It's obviously a popular place but this is my third bad night at Juana Taco so I won't be returning. Especially when we have La Cabra and Radio Mexico...
