Galleon Café lives up to its reputation as a St Kilda institution—bustling, full of character, and serving up one of the best breakfasts in town. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, which says a lot about its popularity, but once seated, the experience was smooth and well worth it. The Coffee – Absolutely Top-Tier The coffee was exceptional, easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced, it’s clear they take their brewing seriously. Whether you go for a strong black coffee or a velvety latte, you won’t be disappointed. The Food – The Drunken Sailor Big Brekky Both Liz and I went for "The Drunken Sailor" big breakfast, and it did not disappoint. Generous portions of scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, roasted mushrooms, tomatoes, sautéed spinach, and thick slices of buttered multigrain toast made for a hearty and satisfying start to the day. The eggs were creamy and cooked to perfection, and every element on the plate was fresh and full of flavor. Service & Atmosphere Despite how busy it was, the service was excellent—attentive without being overbearing. The staff were friendly and efficient, ensuring a great experience. The café has a laid-back, retro vibe with old-school tables and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that adds to its charm. Final Verdict If you’re in St Kilda and craving a standout breakfast, Galleon Café is absolutely worth a visit. Be prepared for a wait, but once you're in, you’re in for fantastic food, amazing coffee, and great service. Would we return? 100% yes!

Not sure why is this cafe not mentioned by google map when I check for nearby breakfast. But luckily the hotel reception recommended this place! Food: try their pancakes, its really one of the best! The big breakfast (not sure of the real name) was good too. Bacon tasted well charred but not tough. Scones are warm and not dry. Drinks: still okay. Not super warm for this cold weather. Price: very reasonable! I spent 48 dollars on 3 persons meal that fed all 4 of us! Service: Female staff was super friendly. I received my food quite fast even though of the crowd. Its a worth it breakfast. One of the best breakfast I had in Melbourne:)

This bustling spot serves a big range of standard cafe fares and caters well to herbivores and omnivores alike. The "Bubble 'n Squeak" has vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions, with the latter adding a mini pork sausage for an extra $1. The result was a generous serve of comforting, satisfying and quite delicious blend piled high on a piece of multigrain toast. The mismatched furniture adds to the casual, retro charm of this place. Service was perfunctory but adequate. Overall, a good experience but probably not memorable against the hundreds of places I've experimented with.

I would usually recommend people to go here as one of Melbourne's best cafe experiences. Not anymore though. I have been a patron for many years, always visiting when I am in Melbourne and was more frequent when I was living locally. Today however I walked out with a taste of yuk in mouth. The service was bad really bad a lot of attitude the staff. My partner and I had the meatballs for breakfast there was barely a teaspoon of sauce and the meatballs were dry and the whole meal was just bland and tasteless just overall very bland. My fresh juice was basically just a highball glass full of more ice than juice. I had maybe 3 sips and I was down to just froth and ice. I guess it's time to look for another great Melbourne experience cafe as this place has lost all of its taste and luster. Response from the owners has been nothing!!! So rude if you're in the local area try anywhere but here. My experience was dreadful. Don't eat at this cafe it's utter garbage. Also if you are disabled please avoid this venue they have no respect for anyone disabled. My partner is heavily disabled after a car accident and the staff were beyond horrific towards him. Yes I am still waiting for a response from...

Think it’s a requirement to be actively rude to work here. After asking for my eggs to be done on both sides (I have the egg ick) and them bringing them out stone dry, I apologised and said that I meant that I’d like the yolk still runny but white part not snotty (if you know you know), the guy waiter rolled his eyes and took my plate away??? I was super apologetic as I thought it probably wasn’t explained the best on my side. I then saw him talking about me to another member of staff, rolling his eyes and pointing which made me uncomfortable. After he brought the eggs and I said thank you, he walked off without saying anything. Didn’t realise my preference in eggs personally affected you but okay. We then said thanks for the brunch, it was super yummy etc as we were paying and the staff at the till didn’t smile and just said “yeah…”. Very weird vibes. Such a shame because all the other food was delicious and the interior of the place...
