I am drawn to the charm of this quaint café. Despite its modest size, the thoughtful attention to detail in both its interior and exterior design creates an inviting and inclusive atmosphere without feeling overwhelming.
The leafy decor ensures that customers seated inside maintain a sense of privacy, while the large windows offer picturesque views of the outdoor seating area. đżLove it.
The café offers a variety of fresh pastries made in the day, each tempting in its own right. The coffee, in particular, stands out for its exceptional taste, providing a satisfying start to my visit.
Their brunch lineup is pretty standard stuff â sandwiches, smoked salmon, and avo smash, etc. I went for the Hippie vegan sandwich, and let me tell you, that tofu-based vegan halloumi is a trip. â€ïž The mushroom dish with basil sauce and Parmesan? Tasty, but they could be a bit more generous with the portions.
But here's the kicker â the surcharges. 10% extra on weekends and a whopping 15% on public holidays, plus card fees. It's a bit of a bummer, to be honest. Sure, the food and atmosphere are top-notch, but those added costs can really put a dent in your wallet.
Overall, Junior Malvern is a solid choice for a laid-back café hang, just watch out for those sneaky surcharges. The staff adds to the positive experience with their friendly demeanor, further enhancing the welcoming ambiance...
Read moreShouldn't a morning coffee in the middle of lockdown be a nice, simple pleasure? 2 bad experiences at Junior. Was coming everyday for weeks, so I let go of the first one, but combined with the 2nd one, a bit of a joke.
A few months ago, while the barista had already started to prepare my coffee order, the waiter realised my $4 card payment did not go through. He made me tap and re-tap, restarted the machine - No success. I offered to come back the next day to pay, but he insisted I should come back to pay on the same day (not possible, business commitments). He was so worried I would not come back. This was also an inconvenience to me, having to wait 10min for him to play around with the card machine, so feeling like I was stealing $4 was shocking. Obviously I made sure I came back the next day!
Then, a 2nd 'almost funny' situation - I misplaced my card and had cash only, today. I was abruptly told 'No cash in lockdown, sorry we can't make your coffee' (but happy to touch a coffee cup and pass it on to me, though). I did not bother coming back, nor asking for a favour.
While I appreciate that the owner is taking COVID precautions, a right balance between rules & pleasant customer service is what makes local businesses so lovely. Small gestures make people come back. Coffee is...
Read moreI recently stumbled upon this cafe where I was pet sitting and what an absolute hidden gem!
I consider myself to be a bit of a coffee connoisseur and genuinely feel that this was some of the BEST coffee both two times I've been there. Sadly they were doing plumbing work the past few days so haven't been able to be reunited however will definitely be back!
This cafe makes me want to go back and re-review past cafes and put them down a ranking as 'Junior' goes way past the quality and service! I guess you could say, has set a new high standard!
Beyond impressed here guys, keep up...
