Koi Ramen Sushi Don — Restaurant in Melbourne

Located opposite Bentleigh station, Koi is a convenient pit stop for commuters. With cooked to order hot food, and the choice of pre-made or made to order sushi available, the menu is actually much more varied that I expected.

The tuna and avocado sushi was decent and a good snack for when you’re feeling peckish. After whetting my appetite with the sushi, I dived straight in to the Pork Katsu Ramen with Chicken Shoyu broth. The broth was flavourful, but did made me thirsty after. The ramen was cooked to the optimal springy, chewy and slightly firm texture, and the pork katsu came with a thin and crisped batter.

The Curry Chicken Katsu Don was accompanied by little chunks of peas, carrots and corn which may or may not be of the frozen or canned variety. The curry sauce was nothing to write home about but as tasty enough. The chicken katsu was similar to the pork katsu – lovely batter and well-seasoned.

A sensible option for a quick and cheerful meal...

Fantastic Sobu beef Noodles, however I'm a big guy about 6 foot. I was told that the portion size is the same for everyone. When I noticed some other patrons order the same dish, I couldn't help but compare. One young girl about 5 foot 3 received a mountain of sobu noodles which made me drool. Another couple outside were eating a mammoth plate of of noodles piled up to the sky. Incidentally, that's why I went in. People eat with there eyes and I was sold. My dish however, was visually on the smaller side compared to the others. The dishes needs to be the same. You cannot discriminate on the amount you serve. It has to be consistent for everyone. The quality was delicious but I did not get full value like the other customers got. This was my first time at this place. I will give them another go and see if things change for the better. If you eat here. Please don't get the katsu curry don (chicken) I promise you it will be one of the most dissapointing things you do.

After a hard day's work I decided to go here and order a katsu curry don for my partner and I. And I promise you it was the most awful karsu I have ever had. I was so hungry in the car I opened it up. It had frozen peas, carrots and corn . Which is just bizzare in itself . The chicken I swear was from a frozen schnitzel McCain box and deep-fried and gone like a soggy biscuit. Omg and the curry sauce was watery goop.

I threw both of our meals in the bin and got st kilda pizza instead.

Please trust my review if you go through my reviews you can see I write mostly positive reviews and not bad ones as I don't like to do this. But do not waste your money here.
