Master Lanzhou — Restaurant in Melbourne

I loved this place when it has good friendly caring service. Now I’m not going there ever again. On a Sunday, me and my husband were seated out of the staff’s convenience by sitting on a 4 table seater. With 2 strangers already in it. Next to the cash register. The place was half empty and I even found a 2 table seater. I was not too worried about it until we start ordering through the code online, it took us 15mins to figure out, it doesn't work at all. No staff told anyone that it doesn't work. Normally it works, I’ve been there a few times to understand how to order online. We weren't the only ones, everyone started to order up front, so we did the same. Very annoying. As we ordered up front…we were rushed, they had a very aggressive tone on us and we ended up getting one wrong order. We were unable to double check the screen in front of us because they skipped the screen way too fast to see what we have ordered. We sat down, the staff gave us the food and I told the staff that, its the wrong order, and they got annoyed and angry to the point they shouted at me, “THIS IS YOUR ORDER RIGHT?!”. The receipt they gave me had the right dish. But it was not what we wanted. I had no choice but to eat it, since it was already paid. I said “No worries, all good”. The staff who shouted at me, cleaned the table next to us, started to show how annoyed she was, by pushing and banging dishes and chairs around. Absolutely disgusting attitude. The whole time she gave us an unfriendly vibe to the restaurant. Very uncomfortable. Overall, we do NOT tolerate any shouting, rushing, pressuring, unfriendly staff members doing this to any customers like me and my husband. I hope they change their staff because I do wanna come back! The food is still...

It was our first time dining at Master Lanzhou.

The service was friendly and prompt. It was a simple process, we were seated to read through the menu and then directed to the front counter to place our order..nice and simple.

We ordered:

Beef and Pickled Cabbage Noodles: flavourful and just the right amount of heat from the spicy chilli oil. However, there is additional chilli oil on the table if you need to add any additional Really enjoyed this dish. Spicy Beef Noodle Soup: has a deep Szechuan flavour and believe the description when it says numbing. We both tried the broth and it indeed leaves your mouth numbed after a few mouthfuls. Having said that, the noodles are fresh and the dish was tasty and enjoyed. BBQ Wings: these were a miss and took the longest to come out. It was only once we had finished our noodles that the chicken wings came out. Unfortunately, they are not crispy and have a somewhat curry powder flavour which we didn't like, but some might.

Would we go back? Maybe...but would definitely order the signature noodles instead of the Spicy Beef noodles. We also won't opt for any of the BBQ items.

Overall, we weren't disappointed, it was a just a 'nice' meal not outstanding.

Price point is good though, for the above three items, we paid...

We visited Master Lanzhou beef noodle bar on Saturday after shopping. There was 8-10 tables i front of us. We waited between 50 minutes - 1 hour to get a table for four. Before being seated, you’ll need to complete the mobile checkin via Liven.

They had dining inside and outside. It’s my first time having Lanzhou style noodles.

While waiting in line, we watched the chef make hand pulled noodles. You’ll watch where the magic happens as they pull and stretch the noodle to make one long noodle. At the ordering counter, you get to choose the thickness of your noodles as well as confirming whether to add chilli, or coriander. We ordered the signature beef noodle soup and the special beef noodles. The taste and the texture of the noodle was good. The signature beef noodle soup was nice and clean. The special beef noodles was Thinly sliced beef served on a bed of cold thinnest sized noodles and julienne cut cucumber which was refreshing and cooling covered with a peanut sauce soup. The items on the menu are basic but it’s good. I would definitely come back.

I purchased the Liven care package $20 and we received an extra $15 liven credits. We ordered two bowls of noodles for $38.60. 40c for a takeaway container.
