🍚 Tube sticky rice 🥚 Oyster and prawn pancake 🍘 Yi-lan goza 🍱 Chicken chop rice
I visited this place for the first time tonight and this is one of the best Taiwanese restaurants in Melbourne (yes, I have been to most of them).
The tube sticky rice was moist, sticky and jam-packed with flavour. It definitely reminded me of home.
The oyster and prawn pancake was crispy and gooey, just like how it is made in Taiwan. There is a slight room for improvement here in that the sauce probably needs a bit more plum (but I'm being picky).
The Yi-lan goza was a new dish for me in that I have never tried it before (anywhere). It looks like deep fried tofu, but inside, it is a burst of gooey goodness. It's like a savoury version of deep fried milk (炸鮮奶). This is one of their recommended items on the menu and I can see why.
The chicken chop rice is very authentic. The chicken was deep fried well and was seasoned with pepper salt, which gave it the authentic Taiwanese taste. The outer layer could be a little crispier, but it is still very yummy nonetheless.
Overall, I am so glad that this place has opened and I'm very sure I'll be...
Read moreI was really excited to try this Taiwanese restaurant but unfortunately was left a bit disappointed by the food. Perhaps I'm just from a different region in Taiwan and had different expectations. I was very excited to see Taiwanese meatball on the menu but was disappointed when I tasted it. The glutinous part was tough and hard to cut into pieces. The oyster vermicelli was on the bland side but they did include a lot of oysters. My partner had the bento and found it to be very average. The deep fried tofu was good but very expensive for it's portion. In both our drinks, the pearls were clumped together and couldn't be separated, otherwise the tea flavour was nice. Overall the food we ordered wasn't the taste we hoped for and also weren't cheap. However, the atmosphere and decorations were very nice and the staff were...

Popcorn chicken was on point. Crispy, tasty, meaty. The braised chicken was also tasty and tender. Egg was almost like an onsen tamago. Vegetables had a clean not oily taste and texture. Personally liked a bit of spice and there was not very spicy cut chilli with soya sauce or a thirteen spices spicy powder available.
Chicken skin was crispy and had good texture because not too much batter like some other deep fried chicken skin offerings. Spicy and salty as well.
Taro spring roll was crispy, mochi like in texture and not too sweet. But not overly strong Taro flavour.
Will try the crispy pigs blood. Maybe in the fried combo if hungry. Crispy tofu, oyster vermicelli. Might also just have popcorn chicken on its own. With the...
