Shokupan is nice but sourdough holds better, also compliments the richer flavours that deli sandwiches have. This was light on the truffle flavour so it wasnโt too surfeiting, but had a rich cheese funk that we enjoyed. Roasted portobello mushrooms were delicious, and the koji chimichurri and American mustard did give the sando a spicy kick too. โฃ โฃ ๐ฅช ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐จ ๐๐๐ง๐๐ฐ๐ข๐๐ก - AUD 17 โฃ The house smoked pork belly and grandma smoked ham were meaty and nice, making it quite a substantial sandwich. The cob lettuce in Nicoโs salad cream added creaminess to the relatively salty meats while the koji chimichurri helped to cut through the richness of everything. Also loved how the country loaf soaked up everything well so there wasnโt much leakage left in the wrappersโฃ โฃ We visited the original one at Fitzroy at about 9.30am and it wasnโt too crowded. Service was awesome, lovely people, real foodies and know a lot about food and recommend other venues to visit. Coffee was delicious, probably the best place to get 5 sense coffee - was as strong as other 5 sense blends Iโve tried which is good for me. The sandwich was made to order which was a bonus so we were happy to wait for that. We ordered the Cubano which was a fully loaded sandwich with dill, pickles, ham and smoked pork belly! I would love to know the secret ingredients in their salad cream. The sandwich was unbelievable and the best tasting sandwich we have had in a long time. The bread was delicious, and the buffalo mozzarella was massive and really made the sandwich hardy. The pesto flavour with tomato really topped it off - perfect ๐๐พOnly reason for the missing star was that we ordered strong flat whites but they were single shots.
Update: went again and unfortunately second trip here was not near as good ๐ no flavour in the mozzarella sandwich - seemed they skimped on the pesto. The meatball was great but small portion and the the iced coffee was watery & mainly ice.
