Pasta Prego is a casual, takeaway pasta bar located on Chapel St, in South Yarra. The business was started by two young, lifelong best friends, Lorenzo and Isaac, just wanting to share the Italian pastas they grew up on with the community - and at an affordable price! 🍝
Although the sauces are made fresh each morning, the pastas are sourced from a local supplier. The concept is simple, select one of their 14 sauces, then choose a pasta type and then any extra additions. Everything is made to order so you can personalise it as you like. They come in regular and large, both generous sizes and range from $12.90 to $18.90. 🤑
✔️ Chicken alla Vodka (+ Chilli, Sundried Tomatoes) - crowd favourite! recommend adding the extras for sure. A great rose sauce! ✔️ Beef Ragu Fettuccini - very flavourful sauce. ✔️ Gnocchi Pesto alla Genovese - more of a creamy pesto. Super generous! ➖ Tortellini Carbonara - not traditional, it’s the western version most would be used to. Needs maybe double the amount of creamy, not saucy enough. ✔️ Cheesy Garlic Bread ➖ Meatballs - a little bit small, more of an add-on than a side.
For the price point, portion size and convenience, it is fantastic value and does the trick. If I was local I could definitely see myself ordering this for delivery when I’m too lazy on the couch. It was hilarious the amount of “YUMMMM”’s we heard from everyone walking past - some unable to resist and getting some for themselves!...
Read moreI don't use Google but had to create an account purely to write this so it's known. I have ordered from you guys when you first opened and the food was incredible. I recently ordered last week two pastas and two garlic breads. The garlic bread was so bad. It should've just been called bread with butter, there was no garlic on the bread what so ever.
My fiancé ordered a tomato based dish which tasted like if you got a can of tomato sugo and decided to rinse the can out and fill it up with water and have a tiny bit of tomato sugo still in the can. Not to mention as well, the sugo was so watery, it looked like they ran it under the tap before packing it up.
I had the chicken alfredo which I still have horrible memories of. Honestly, I should've saved my money and got a bottle of thickened cream and some rigatoni and just cooked the pasta and pour the cream on myself, that's how awful it was.
I don't know what is going on but this isn't the same place I ordered from when you guys first started. It feels like you've just stopped putting effort into your food and I'm telling you now, if things don't go back to how they were when you first opened, you guys will be closing up shop in the next year.
Please go back to how passionate you once were because this food was...
Read moreWithout a doubt this is the first place we think of when we need something quick and easy that won't cost the earth for dinner. The food is very good and most importantly it is consistently good food. It is a common complaint for us that places start off great and slide into lower level as time passes and they are not mindful of their standards. Every meal has been very good and the staff are friendly and efficient which is why it is routinely extremely busy. It is not uncommon to find a bit of a wait because of the standards Pasta Prego maintain so maybe plan a quick supermarket visit to make use of your time!? The owners of this establishment have read the room in an exceptional way and now find themselves, I expect, pretty busy owners of a popular successful eatery. I'm thinking that Pasta Prego would do very well in several other Melbourne locations, potentially other cities too!! There's the challenge for you guys!! That's my unsolicited offering for you, you're carrying the baton now - so your turn to...
