long drive, no lunch arrive in Hastings at 8pm. go to this place, which does have great fish and chips, but we decided to order a Souvlaki each. I ask them if the meat was stale/old they said no as it was in a tray and not carved. They then reheated/cooked it and again I said it better not be tough. We got home and started to eat it. It was dry hard and overcooked meat, my husband gave his to the dog in disgust, I are half as I was starving and kept the rest to take back. I returned it in the morning, the person who spoke to me bordered on extremely rude, abusive and arrogant, he would only refund for one, even though he could see the meat was crisp and should not have been sold, I pointed out both were the same and I had to have something to eat, but he refused to refund the $22. This used to be the best fish and chop shop in Hastings I've been living elsewhere for a while came over here salivating for a souvlaki what a major disappointment it was, the souvlaki's are now are $16 each and are so thin their was barely any meat not like days of old. I don’t live in hastings, and haven’t for over 10 years. But I don’t go anywhere else for fish and chips. This place is hands down the BEST!! Crunchy goodness on the outside, soft fluffy and yummy on the inside with everything!
