Have not been to this hotel in years and it didn’t disappoint- great renovations and really lovely atmosphere…..we sat in one of the booths on a sunny cold Saturday afternoon and it was great to be warm and comfortable but still see the afternoon sunshine
Food was good and staff very friendly
They have the order with your phone on a scan code …..we ordered our entrees drinks and mains and sadly everything came out at the same time - they have listed food as entrée main etc but don’t say don’t order it all together unless you want everything to come together
We wanted a long enjoyable lunch - with our entrees first then our mains not toss it out all on a table and eat everything together
When you stagger meals - like we wanted- people stay longer drink more and enjoy their day - staff never told us this was the case and it would be easy to say - hey just a reminder if you want to have your entree’s first don’t order your mains until your ready as all food comes out together
Or simply do not have the words “entree” and “mains” on the menu - have small plates, large plates
It was a real shame that this small detail was not communicated as otherwise it really would of been a perfect day lunch place to eat

Read moreCame here for a drink once and it has a nice vibe so thought we'd come here for a family dinner. Friendly staff got us seated ok but unfortunately the meals were disappointing. The roast came out well before the other meals and tasted ok but it was cold, like it had been sitting around for a while. The veggies were half cooked, mushy on one side and crunchy on the other. When the rest of the meals came out, the parma was pretty good. The calamari was completely inedible and just tasted like oil. The chicken roll was mostly mayonnaise and tasted like something you might get at a school canteen or out of a 7-11 microwave. We thought we'd give dessert a crack - the sticky date pudding seemed bereft of dates and the sauce was like someone heard about salted caramel and didn't realise it's not meant to actually taste like salt. Might have gone well on the flavourless calamari but pretty bad on a dessert. If I come back again it will just be for a drink, the...
Read moreGenerally a very cool venue but it’s more a resturant than a hotel/pub.
The meals are not what you would expect at a pub. I personally believe it was designed like this to cater to the new age of people who have moved into Prahran. The Parma is nice and tasty but you are served about 3/4 of some frozen fries and the rest is an assortment of a few lettuce leaves and then the chicken. A bit too much of a deviation from the starboard Parma. The pub should provide good hearty meals but as stated this is beyond this place which is a shame. It was always a local favourite back when it used to be more a migrant/working class suburb. Seems like that is not the case anymore. I guess that’s why every time I’ve been I’ve always seen it empty?
The beer here is more expensive than non pubs which shouldn’t be be case. I mean $13 for a pint of Fat Yak, not even other establishments down the road charge that much.
Sad changes and damage to what was once a great...
