I first visited Sergy Boy on a Friday night - spending time on the outside patio while enjoying drinks with friends. Their bar staff are great and the ambiance afforded to them by their location makes it a great after-work spot.
Thought I'd try them out for a breakfast meeting so looked up their website/menu. The website appears to be outdated (still), stating that they'll be opening soon. While the menu lists items under "Something Veg" there's no indication of the dishes are vegan, vegetarian, etc. I found this to be very surprising given the "unofficial" standard in Melbourne set by their peers is to label their food for any diet restrictions.
Went ahead with the meeting and when I asked the same question to the staff behind the counter they were clueless. One even went as far as to suggest a breakfast option with cheese and the other with eggs (clearly not understanding what a vegan diet is). They made no effort to discuss this with the chef and I (not wanting to risk an allergy) just ordered a tea. We ended up moving to another restaurant...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI always get my coffee from this shop but one day I have noticed that barista maker making bulk of coffees using Light Milk despite me asking for Full cream milk (sorry for other customers who have been served with light milk), I have asked the staff whether it is full cream and they said back strongly yes it is but I have seen with my eyes itās made up with light milk and the coffee tastes as light. Later when I spoke to the cafe manager he did acknowledge that staff are messing this up and will talk to them. After a week again the same happened infront of my eyes. This time I have taken video and will be taking to FDA. Imagine people who are light milk allergic and intolerant. Cafe is messing with up people health especially when customers do request them in specific their choice of milk and cafe staff are not bothered to serve the same. I would say people around their going to that cafe on regular basis if you note that your coffee tastes different each day then this is the reason. Raise your voice for your health and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to Sergy Boy for an early breakfast. Was seated at a table but waited so long for someone to come take our order that we ended up ordering at the bar. They were busy with the rush of morning coffee orders. The food took a long time to come out, we had long finished our coffees. The wait staff didnāt seem to know what they were bringing out, they asked who had the āmuesliā when handing out the porridge. One lot of eggs was supposed to be well done but they werenāt sure which one it was. The smoothie bowl was literally a smoothie in a bowl with a couple of bits of fruit thrown it, definitely a let down. The other meals were nice, the French toast was delicious. The decor was nice, itās all very modern looking. The wait staff were not very friendly, with one pulling away a plate before my friend had even...
